Flu

The flu has struck our house with a vengeance.  No photos in this post today as you really don't want to see how bad we look, or how bad my house looks for that matter.  My oldest is still not well.  Although his fever is down he continues to get night sweats and is really weak.  No swim meet for him this weekend.  We will have to write all those college coaches and tell them about the situation.  Hopefully they will continue to watch for him this summer, and not just look at the kids with better times right now.  I am so sad for him as he has put in so much work to see this happen.  Swimmers are different , they can't take time off.  They really never get a break and they have to practice twice a day at least three times a week.  My son had one week off last year.  So he swam 9 practices a week, for 51 weeks.  That ends up around 468 practices, give or take a few.  I don't think there is another sport in the world that requires this amount of dedication.

I spent yesterday afternoon and evening in bed.  Now if you know anything about me you know this is practically unheard of.  I felt so bad I couldn't even crochet or knit....now that is bad.  Today I am a bit better, but still not tip top.  I have to catch up on things around the house, and hopefully get a little crochet and knit time.

Yesterday, my youngest had the first signs of strep throat, so now he is on antibiotics.  We sound so pathetic.  But we are lucky enough to have just normal flu and strep.  I know it could be so much worse.

Hope you are all staying healthy.

Take care of everyone, and especially yourself! I am so sorry about your son missing his swim meet. There are some good coaches out there with good hearts. I'll pray that some of them find him and give him a chance!

Aww, Meredith, I'm so sorry he had to miss that meet. So much effort put into it and then the loss of not being able to compete. I'm also sorry you're all sick.. do you get the flu shot? We get it and have remained flu/cold free the entire Fall/Winter so far. Knock on wood.

Get better.. hugs.. Teresa

Oh, how terrible! I wish I could be there to nurse you all through it. I'm so, so sorry about Dave - that poor kid. To work that hard and not be able to swim this weekend is so frustrating. Is my brother-in-law sick as well?

I'm in NYC tomorrow but will be home Thurs and Friday before I leave for a week in the city. I'll try to call you then, sister.

Sounds pretty dreadful. I hope you all are on the mend very soon. I'll send some healing energies your way.
And I hope the coaches keep David in their sights this summer.

Oh boy, that is such a disappointment for your son and all of you too. On the upside, it could have worse like you said. Hope you are all feeling tip top soon. Thinking of you, xoRobin❤

We have been through it twice in just as many months here. I swear the strain is so much worse than ever.
