Debby

Tropical Storm Debby has been visiting us here in Florida.  She is a lovely, wide and disorganized weather system that has sort of stalled near the top of the state.
We were very lucky, no damage just lots of rain, 12 1/4 inches in 24 hours to be exact.  It was very interesting watching all the weather on TV, nothing like a good storm to send all the weather forecasters into a tizzy.  There was some damage near the coast but for us it was smooth sailing.  My husband was pretty upset the weather kept breaking through the Olympic Trials, to repeat what they had been saying all day, but that was really the only annoyance.  Because I was stuck inside all day I decided to start my new Cari Shrug and watch three episodes of the first season on Downtown Abbey.  This show is new to me, I am a bit slow sometimes on what is popular, and can I just say how much I love it!  The clothes, the acting, the scenery are all just wonderful.
The weather has cleared even though we have some remaining bands from the storm out in the Gulf which may give us some rain today.  Right now it is sunny skies with a lovely brisk wind.  Max is sure happy to be able to sit by the pool, even if it is next to the Cardi Shrug.  You know how he feels about photo shoots.
Between the weather, baseball, Olympic Trials and Downtown Abbey I managed a good 6 inches on my shrug.  I think my behind was hurting from being so stationary all day, those days don't occur very often so I took advantage of it.  Yesterday and today it is back to reality, work, cleaning and everyday normal life.  I think I could have used one more home bound day that is for sure.  Hope the weather is smiling on you wherever you live.

And by the way, thanks so much for the lovely compliments on the Cardi Shrug, I really love it.

I love a good storm. We could sure use some of that rain here in Ohio. The farmers are needing it! The new shrug is a lovely color. You got a lot done!

Oh, I miss those days of rain in Florida. I use to always love watching the rain fall. Here in KY when it rains, you have to watch out for the sirens because there just might be a tornadoe headed your way. Nasty stuff. Man, I really miss Florida!

Max is super cute. He cracks me up. I bet he is loving the cooler temps.

The cardi is awesome. I love the color and I can't wait to see it all knitted up.

Wishing you a lovely day and hugs to Max, too. :)

I just love those kind of days! Tucked inside, all safe and warm, and knitting, or crocheting, or sewing the day away!!

Glad to hear the storm wasn't so bad where you are. I don't think we've had that much rain in the past 5 years. Ha! Max is such a sweetie. Great work on your new cardi. Wish you could really stop by for tea, cake and a chat. Hugs and blessings, Tammy

The cardi is a great color.

We still have Debby hanging out with us today. They say one more grey day and then the sun will be back. Not sure how much rain we got overall, but today it's been squally showers most of the morning.

I think we must have the tail-end of Debby over here - just when you think summer's returned, rain, rain, rain! What a pain!I love your new cardi. Have you seen the broohaha going on over at Ravelry about their 'Ravelympics' - the American Olympic Committee has threatened Casey with a lawsuit if he doesn't change the name - unbelievable!
I have both series of Downton but haven't watched either of them yet.Might wait for the next rainy day which will probably be tomorrow!Have a great week, Meredith.

Meredith, your Debby rain is much more exciting than our Oregon rain!!! It is fun to be able to make progress on inside projects like your new shrug during stormy weather...I especially like the color, too! I enjoyed some of the episodes of DA, too. I am sending Max a hug :)

My shrug is not as far along as your pretty pink one! WOW you are fast, much faster than I am.
I love your Max, he reminds me so so much of my dearly departed Huck.

Glad you handled the rain well. We are watching Olympic swim trials right now! Fireman swam in high school, and still loves watching swimmers.

Oh wow, that is a LOT of rain in a short period of time!

Glad you're ok! Our first summer here (8 years ago), there were four tropical storms that rolled through here. One was Gaston. Gaston dropped 14 inches on us in a 12 hour period. Our downtown area was under 6 feet of water. People died, it was awful. That's a lot of rain in a short period of time. Good to know your roof is working well and the runoff is ample! Some weren't so lucky! You deserve some smooth sailing...you've had enough this year! Hugs, Annette
