Bonus Time

I woke up today with a bit more energy than I have had the last few days.  Do not, I repeat do not ever run out of your thyroid medication.  I called in my script on Friday and as usual my Doctor's (who I love and is my neighbor) office did not get my refill in until late, late yesterday.  Lord, I had no idea what a mess I was going to be without a few days of medication.  I am getting back to normal now, normal you understand with me lately is still a mess!

I cancelled my first patient of the day, hooray!!!!  Okay, I know I should not be so excited but now I have a chance to blog and take my time starting my day.  The poor toad has a sinus infection and bronchitis, but they still wanted me to come over, I think not.

Apparently Max is enjoying his morning by the pool.  He is waiting for the pool to start so he can frantically bark at it until the the water calms down.  It is his daily duty to save us from the pool.

From where I was sitting you could really see his reflection in the pool, not so much in this picture.

My husband made this apple honey cake on Sunday.  Kristen over at Cozy Things posted this recipe on Sunday, so I wasted no time, I copied it off and handed it to my husband, who is the main cook at our house.  Mr. 18 year old and I can not have sugar, honey, molasses, maple syrup, etc because of our hypoglycemia.  But we can have agave nectar and this recipe adapted well to the agave nectar replacing the honey.  I am sure honey makes it taste a bit lighter, but the agave did just fine for me.  Mr. 18 year old was not that thrilled, which is fine because then there is more for me.  I had a piece for breakfast with my tea, yum!

Cardi Shrug number 2 has been completed for sometime, yet I have not blocked it.  I confess I am horrible at blocking and I will do almost anything so I do not have to block a project.  I never wet block, oh no.  I will block with my iron, even wool.  I just try to be careful and not set the iron on an overly hot setting.  This is made in elizaeth lavold Silky Wool in the color magenta.

Cardi Shrug number 3 was cast on in North Carolina and not much progress has been made since.  same yarn as number 2 but in the color Spring Grass.

Hope your day is going nicely.

One of the reasons I don't try to knit more clothing items is that I'm terrified of blocking! Love your shrug, though. Have a nice day!

Aww Max is so cute. He's so brave, too...saving you all from the pool! He has the cutest little face, so sweet. :)

Thanks for the kind words you left on my blog today, you are so sweet. :)

I really will finish Otto...you know, if I survive the whole double point thing and all! :)

Love your Cardi shrug...all of them. So very pretty. The green is a favorite color of mine, so I can't wait to see it all knitted up. :)

Sending hugs and blessings your way...oh, and don't forget to hug Max for me, too. :)

Oh, I'm glad you got the meds and are getting back to normal. I always enjoy pictures of sweet Max. That cake looks yummo! We have in common that our husbands are the chief cooks in the family, we're lucky! Love your knitted shrugs - you are so lucky to have that model figure of yours so you can wear those! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Ugh, I have thyroid issues, too. Is your under or over active? Mine is completely not working. If I forget to take my medication even one day I feel the effects all day long. I have an extra 30 day supply from when I moved cross country so I won't ever be without.

You have such a sweet dog, lol. He is waiting for that pool to just be a threat and what a good dog to guard you from it. My dogs do the same with thunder, the garbage truck, the mail man or anything else that is NOT to be on their property or within ear shot of this house. They will even come running down the hall to let me know a semi truck went down the road. They were in full throttle for about a half and hour when the 4th of July fireworks went off in the surrounding small towns. The shrugs are such pretty colors and I am still amazed at how fast you knit. I am such a slow poke. So glad you are feeling better now that you have your medication, but not quite understanding why those sweets would not be good for hypoglycemia. I can understand why someone with hyperglycemia would be told to avoid these things because they could send a blood sugar way too high. Is there some new medical finding?
(((HUGS))) Susanne :)

I too have thyroid issues and can understand how awful you must have felt. Glad you are alright now. Love your shrug. Even I hate blocking.

I'm so glad you liked the cake! I'm happy to hear it was good with agave--I'm going to try that variation too. It's not your usual Betty Crocker mix cake, but it is a lovely treat. :)

Max is so handsome. I just love that face! I want to try Kristen's recipe, too. She is one talented chickadee, that's for sure. Your shrug turned out great. I've never blocked anything. Right now I'm just feeling rather blah after returning from vacation. Waking up with a headache every day. Not good! Best wishes, Tammy

Gorgeous shrugs - I know what you mean about blocking. I always have to block things on the floor under my bed as that's the only place my kids won't walk on it!

It is during times like this that I wish I knew how to crochet and knit. And sprout wings so I could get my coffee in here.

I love how your dog barks at the pool...too funny! My thyroid is a little low but Dr wants to wait and see if it gets any lower or whatever until she puts me on anything. I really don't want to take another pill. I love the color of the green grass cardi! Yummy looking cake!~Hugs, Patti

A quick note about your meds - if you ever run out again, ask your pharmacy if they'll advance you a few tablets to get you through until the doctor responds. I don't know if all pharmacies do this, but the one in my town certainly does - at least for maintenance meds like this one. (They take it out of the next fill.)

You could also ask if they have an automatic refill system - which would trigger the refill, and the request to the doctor, several days before it's due. This might help prevent future shortages. (Feel free to delete this comment - I would have e-mailed you but couldn't find an address.) :)
