Stitchy is having a CAL

Hi everyone, hope your week has been wonderful.  I am joining my very first CAL.  I am not usually one to join in, well officially that is.  So I am quite happy to expand my crochet skills by joining my friend Stitchy, in her crochet-a-long.  The project she has chosen is the Star Table Runner by Red Heart Yarns. You can find the pattern here.  It takes a minute or two for the link to pop up, so be patient.

Being the rebel I am, I have decided to give this pattern a try in a medium weight yarn, not thread.  We will see how that goes......  When I moan and groan about it not working you can remind me that it was my idea to stray from the suggested yarn.  You see I went yarn shopping in my stash and found this yummy Debbie Bliss yarn.  So I will give it a try and if it doesn't work, I will try, try, try again.

As for trying again, remember this basket that used to have a back and front to the Penny Arcade Sweater Coat?  Well the whole thing has been frogged, painstakingly frogged!  I am starting over, with a bigger hook, I just wasn't happy with the size.  I know do we see a theme here, always too big or too small.  I understand what Goldilocks was thinking when she visited the three bears, nothing fits just right!

Please visit Sticthy and join in with the crochet fun, and have a great weekend.

Oh dear....I thunk I may be seriously losing the plot, I have just been trying to figure out if I could make one of those runners alongside everything else I have to do before Christmas....but now I have imagined my runner on the table on Christmas day, I fear there is no going back!

Love the red you've got, it will be stunning....I would probably go for that...but I was given some White four-ply cotton a few weeks ago, so maybe I should weigh up how far it would go....soooo glad I read you post (you decide if I said that sarcastically!)

I think you and I must BOTH be very familiar with Goldilocks and her very particular ways. I went through my socks and the ones that don't fit may either be given to my sister (with smaller feet) OR frogged for a better purpose!

I think your stars will look great in the red yarn. It has a nice sheen to it.

That yarn is gorgeous. Have fun with the pattern - I think it will be really pretty in red. And you won't have to make as many motifs since you're using a bigger yarn. More bang for your buck that way. :)

The Crochet along sounds fun. I would participate if I wasn't up to my eyeballs in orders here!!!
Bummer about the jacket. Oh well, may as well do it the way you know you will like it and wear it!!

Ohhhh I love the red! Your runner will be lovely I know. :) I love the Debbie Bliss yarn...it's so yummy.

I can't say anything about gauge...except I never can seem to find it! I know you'll be ok with the bigger hook. :)

Have a great day and a super great weekend, too. :)

I never, ever think about gauge. But then again, I don't think I've ever really made anything where it actually mattered. The yarn you have is really pretty and will be very festive when complete. I'm sure it will all be just fine. I just looked at the pattern. When I see "special stitches" my eyes glaze over. I might try one motif and see how it goes. Have a super Sunday. Tammy

Love red and gray, I've been very inspired by that combo lately... even if with paint and brushes! :)

That runner will look so lovely in your warm red yarn, you'll manage! Love the pattern by the way, so I'm very eager to see how yours turns out. CAL is usually not my thing either, but I couldn't resist the petit four CAL... Good luck on your projects, both the knitting and the crocheting. I have so many thing on my hooks now, so I better get going too. Have a lovely week, hugs, Floortje
