Feeling a bit off center

I have been feeling a bit off center these past couple of weeks, and when that happens I completely withdrawal into myself, I am a Cancer after all.  I love the comfort of my shell, and I don't want to talk.  So I have quietly looked at all your blogs, being a lurker for a few weeks.  Hope you do not mind my lack of comments, I am trying to be a bit better starting today.

My wonderful sister Claudia has done some much needed updating to my blog, I thank you so much Claudia.  Now you can follow me on Pinterest and bloglovin, July 1st is coming quickly, the end to our Google followers fun. I don't want to join circles and have a bunch of people I don't know joining me.  I feel like I am back in high school trying to be a lot cooler than I am.  I have a thing with the whole Google empire, I don't think anyone should have that much knowledge of me.  So it is bloglovin for me, hope I don't lose too many of you, that would make me so sad.  I have said a million times I can not do a thing on this blog without my sisters help.  Claudia is so patient with me and now doesn't even try to make me do it on my own, it isn't going to happen.  I really just mess it all up, I have no idea what hlm thingy I have to do with this widget and that widget, so thanks again to you dear sister for helping me out.

Last week I had a field trip to  my favorite yarn store in  Tampa with a few friends from my knitting group.  Knit n' Knibble is a fantastic store, you have to visit it if you are in the area.  I walked in an immediately saw this lovely yarn bowl sitting on one of their big work tables. I immediately fell in love.

I have wanted a yarn bowl for years, they are not in abundance here in Florida.  I wanted to see it, and touch it before buying it, and look here it is the perfect one.  It is extra large, there is 450 yards of sock yarn in this, I love it.  Let me say it was pretty expensive, something I do not usually do splurging that way, but I do have a birthday coming up.....that is my excuse, and it is pretty cute.

Dress number two is completed, and it only took me two days.  It is amazing once you get those arms put in correctly it is much easier the second time around.  Something I always forget about myself is that I am tall, and frankly not that cute.  I am 48 and this dress looks like an Easter dress for an 8 year old.  I think I will hang it in my closet for a bit and pass it along to Goodwill.  Someone might wear it because you know what, I'd look foolish in it.  I need classics, classic lines, shapes and colors, not cutesy.

To keep with the sewing theme (and slightly less cuteness)  I made this dress from two large men's t-shirts I bought on sale at Target.  I followed part of the directions from Anne at WobiSobi, and then did the neckline on my own, because once again I am not cute and young and can't get by with a neckline hanging off my shoulder.

My little buddy is back for a visit, and Max is holding up very well.  He has allowed patting and hair pulling, and lots of drool on his fur.  He is an angel my Max.  My little one is with us for a whole week while his medical foster family is at Disney with their adoptive daughters.  They deserve a break and my little guy needs to crawl around and explore, being in a hot stroller all day at Disney would not be fun for him.

From time to time Max needs a bit of time to himself to regroup from the little boy that is constantly invading his space and saying, "doggie".

And little one is busy, busy, busy, pushing trucks and bowls around, saying, "beep, beep" and, "outside," and crawling to the stairs to call for my youngest son.  He is a treasure.

Hope you are all well, I will try to catch up with you all in the next day or two.

I drew away from Google + also...they want so much of my heart...if I lose followers because of that, then so be it.

Bloglovin is fine for me.

The dress is adorable..and like you I am tall, I never thought of that..

It's good to try some on in a store before making them.

Happy week to you.

Hi Meredith! I've missed our emails to each other. I have been so bogged down by other people in my life that I feel like I am ready to move to the moon....trying to keep a sense of humor. Hope all is well with you. Your dress is very cute but I know what you mean. I have put something on thinking that it would look good and then realize...nope, not at my age and weight, and heighth..etc. As for this blogger thing, I am not sure what you are talking about? I must have missed something? If you have time email me and let me know what is going on...if you have the time. I have not been on anyone's blog for a couple of weeks so I don't know what is happening out there. Hope you are enjoying your Sunday. ~Hugs, Patti

Meredith, I am sorry you are feeling off center. But boy, can I ever identify! Sounds like you did the right thing for yourself with your field trip to the yarn store. I LOVE that yarn bowl! I love the dresses you made. You silly woman, you are not too old to wear those!!!! WEAR THEM!!!
I'm glad you have that little bundle of sweetness to love on for a week. It will do your soul good!
I better educate myself about that Google stuff. I am like you....I don't know a thing about all that stuff!!
XO Kris

Hope you are feeling better soon Meredith, I was feeling off for a while too, but now the sun is shining I feel a bit better. You won't loose anyone Meredith the only thing that is going to change is google reader you will still have people following via google connect and you will still be able to read their blogs on your dashboard reading list so don't worry. I follow you by bloglovin too already and am now following you on pinterest. Well done on finishing the 2nd dress it's very pretty and I think it would look good on you, love the yarn bowl such a good idea. :)

Lovely to hear from you Meredith, was thinking of you earlier, and then you popped up! I struggle with anything remotely complex on the techy side of blogging, and just about bluff my way through, so you're not alone there. Hope you reach a more balanced place soon. My best, always x

Hi Meredith, sometimes it is just to much, to follow blogs and to comment. It sure is okay you're a lurker for a while (or as long as you want), well, I think so. I have had a good laugh reading your blog. About the dress you made, which is very cute, but will never wear it. I can so relate to you. Last year I bought a beautiful dress, I thought it would fit me perfectly. And it did, it made me look more slender, but after a few weeks it went like this: Gerda, what are you thinking. This beautiful dress is not for you, not for a woman of 55 years. Dress your age!! You will not feel comfartable otherwise. So now I'm trying to find someone who will love it too. I'm a huge fan of dressing whatever you like, but this was to much. Saturday I was at my brothers birthday, and me and my sister in law did talk and have fun about this too. Love your yarn bowl! Hope you will survive the energetic little boy. Groetjes, Gerda

Well, you certainly seem to have the dressmaking thing down now. I am with you on cutesy. I try to stick with classic colors and lines. I also much prefer to wear things a bit loose rather than fitted, even though I have lost about 7 lbs. I just feel better when things are clinging to me. The striped dress is so cute! Definitely a great summer wear. I remember when I was in high school, the mom of one of my friends was making t-shirt dresses. I had several that I would wear with scarves tied around my waist as belts. They were really cute! Enjoy your time with the little guy, though I know he keeps you on your toes. Bless Max for being so patient and loving. Hugs to you, Tammy

P.S. Love the yarn bowl! Also, I never used Google Reader so doesn't bother me if it goes. I didn't like the way it was set up. I use my sidebar or my dashboard to visit the blogs I follow. Though of late, I only have time, if that, to respond back to anyone who stops by and leaves a comment. One more week of school and then I will have more me time. Best wishes, Tammy

Give that little guy a kiss for me! And Max, too, of course. I think that dress would look adorable on you because, like it or not, you ARE cute! And you don't look your age.

Says your much older sister.

Yes, Google are in the bad books over here as well for not paying their due taxes and trying to get out of it rather abominably!Don't sweat the small stuff, Meredith, after all, it's ALL small stuff in the grand scheme of things. Be well and enjoy that little one while he's around. He looks adorable. Hugs to Max too.Thinking of you. x

I know what you mean - I have times when everything seems to just be too much.

Max is such a good puppy! I hope he and your visitor have a lovely time together while he is there.

Lovely sewing- I'm impressed. :-)

You express your 'self' so honestly Meredith - you're like a breath of fresh air. Sometimes we can be caught up in the hype of blogland and tend to forget who we really are, but not you. You're a girl after my own heart!
I'm not a tech-head in any way or form either so am beginning to be concerned about what's happening out there with Google. I've just become accustomed to how my blog works - simply - and don't want any complications!
I just love your Max - he is a beautiful being, and so good with that sweet little boy.
Wear the clothes you feel happy and comfortable in - you look great Meredith!
Be well and happy,
Joy x

Oh my gosh .... that last picture is so adorable. When you have grown-up kids, you forget how flexible the little ones are. If I bent my knees like that, I might now get back up from the floor. LOL

Hugs to Max for being a good pup. Hope you are feeling better soon.

What a treasure you found in your yarn bowl! It's so cute. And your sewing skills have gotten better very quickly. I like both dresses very much.
I'm afraid for July 1st because I'm afraid I'll lose all of my friends. I don't know what bloglovin is and don't understand whst's happening on July 1. I barely know how to write a post-technological I'm not.
Blessings,
Betsy

Oh, I think you are doing awesome with the sewing. I really like the dress you made. Who cares if you are 48 or 18, you wear whatever you want to wear!

Love the yarn bowl, too.

blessings always dear friend.

Wow, I have been off center too - and probably will be for a few weeks more. So glad you are finding your way back. :)

What a gorgeous yarn bowl, and that yellow dress is adorable. (I think you could wear it very well - you have such nice slim arms. But if you wouldn't be comfy in it then it had better go.) And what a great makeover on that striped dress - fantastic idea!

I have not done anything with Google Plus or Bloglovin - hope I don't need to!

Enjoy that sweet little boy. I hope Max realises that it's only temporary. :)

First off.. you are gorgeous! You are absolutely classy and elegant! I could only dream of being as lovely as you are. Why not model that floral dress for us and let us decide? :-) Thanks again for the adorable knitted apron, plus the knitting tools! You are just the most thoughtful and sweet friend, ever!! Love you! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

I am really stupid when it comes to these changes. I don't know what bloglovin is. Guess I should look it up. I am hoping that I don't have to change anything. ut i don't want to lose the people that are so important to me!
That little guy looks so cute and...busy!! He looks like he is content no matter where he is. Or he just knows that he is with a wonderful person who loves him!
I love the yarn bowl. I don't think that i have ever seen one before.
Have a great week. Hugs, Teresa
Isn't it weird that I always seem to comment right after the other Teresa. Just noticed that lately. lol

I had been missing your comments Meredith. It was lovely to hear from you again yesterday :)
The yarn bowl is great! So cute and useful. I'd only seen more 'serious' looking ones, I love the idea of having a sheep shaped yarn bowl :)
I am wary about google+ too. I am following you on bloglovin and I I really love the site - it's easy to read updates and organize my blogs into different topics.
Have a wonderful day!

My Dear Meredith, Cheer up buttercup! You are lovely, beautiful, and young!! Love your dress and it is a perfect summer dress. I wear something very similar to that in the evening on a beautiful evening. (and I didn't make it myself, so yours is so much more special)
Love your yarn bowl, I had admired one for a long time and broke down and bought one too. Mine is wooden. It works so well, no more dog hair in my yarn from the floor!!!
Sweet Max, what a good boy!! And by the way your pool looks so inviting, I'll be down.
Love you, xoRobin

PS What's up with google, do we all have to do something????

Hey, Meredith. I've been in denial about any changes in the blogsphere. I just want to keep doing the same old things. (that says a lot about my age, doesn't it?) I may need to try to investigate all of this... but, will probably just wake up one day and it won't work like it used to and I'll be lost. ;)

LOVE that t-shirt dress! I know what you mean about the cutesy... my insides are still 22, but my outsides are not. ;)

Hope you are enjoying a wonderful day. blessings ~ tanna

Aw Max is such a cutie! and your needle work is amazing. Are you sure you won't wear that dress? It's so pretty, and with a little crochet shawl....
I must admit I am very confused with with this Google friends thing. Does it mean that from july 1st all 'followers' will be lost? Should I be finding an alternative ways of following blogs and having people follow mine? Is this bloglovin much the same thing? I will go and follow you with it and see.
Glad to see I'm not the only one confused!!

EMMA said...

Me again! already in difficulty - Blogloving is saying that my email address is already in use and won't let me sign up? This is going to be harder than I though!!!
I.T lessons please!

Just a comment for everyone questioning the July 1st change: What is disappearing is Google Reader, which is a way to read all your favorite blogs in one place via RSS. So far, this has nothing to do with Google Friend Connect. That is not the same thing. Google gets rid of things fairly regularly, so I'm not saying it might not disappear eventually, but for now it's intact. Your followers will remain. But if you read blogs through Google Reader, you should transfer them to a reader like BlogLovin' which does it for you in one quick step.

Take care.

Hi Meredith!
Let me just say ~ I LOVE the dress you made! I will be 49 this month and I WOULD wear it! Are you sure you couldn't wear it? I hate the thought of it going to Goodwill :(
What a trooper Max is! Your little buddy is adorable. How wonderful of you to give him a home so the other family can take a vacation. I know the blessing is all yours :)
The yarn bowl is the cutes I have seen yet. I want one too! They are darn expensive, but we are worth it sometimes :) My birthday is June 30th. When is yours?
Happy Day,

I am gone 7 weeks and amazed at all you have been up to. I think you much deserved that yarn bowl, and how cute, as I recall you do collect sheep, right? So how perfect a gift for yourself! I get a kick out of your Max, I can see that he is well-loved and so very much a part of your family. I see you have been sewing, good for you. I have been wanting to dust off my sewing machine too. I saw a pattern for some cute bunnies made by one of the blogs I follow, but wouldn't ya know it, I didn't write down the blog and now all these weeks have passed and I just can't remember who it was. It will take me weeks to locate it, I am such an idiot at times!
