The Verdict Is In!

Well my friends it has been a heck of a time here at Mereknits, with this whole Max and the Bunny situation.  I was feeling a bit stressed about the whole thing, hoping the press and the authorities would not get a hold of this story before I had  time to work it all out.  Just when I was making plans to find out what had really happened, look what I found pushed under my bedroom door.

Look at this shifty writing!  There is marker on top of pen, and all sorts of ways to try and disguise the writers true identity.  I had had about enough of all the whispering going on, and the call for lawyers, and potential riots, and now this note, so I decided to make my move.  Mediation, I am told works well, not that it ever worked with my kids, but I thought I would give it a try.  It was time to find out the truth of the matter.

Max was acting all sad and depressed that I thought he was capable of this atrocity, he didn't feel like talking to me about it.   But he also acts sad and depressed when his Dad isn't home, he is a bit of a sulker if you know what I mean.  So was he hanging out in his Dad's closet because of the Bunny situation, (feeling guilty maybe) or because he was missing his Dad? It was time to act.  He either needed to be found not guilty or go for a long walk.

I assembled some toys to discuss the situation among friends.  They are intimately acquainted  with both Max and the Bunny, and frankly were the only ones around during the disturbance.

Some interesting  things were discussed.  Apparently the Bunny has been feeling a bit left out, Max had not been playing with him for awhile.  The Bunny was in the middle of the dog toy basket, just above the chewy bones, and he was not pleased.  His arm was losing its stitches, so when he tried to maneuver himself up to the top of the basket his arm almost fell off.  When Max found him at the top of the basket, he grabbed him and while bringing him to the carpet to play...... his arm lost the last stitch, and fell to the floor.  So Max being Max, had a great time with the bunny and the arm, but he was not to be blamed for the dismemberment, even though he looked very guilty in the pictures in the last post.

I asked about the evidence, the dog hair surrounding the bunny and his arm.  The toys reminded me that there is always dog hair on the floor (and everywhere else), possibly due to my lack of cleaning skills, so this in no way, shape, or form, should be held as evidence against Max.

So you see it was all a bit of a misunderstanding.  I decided that really no one was to blame, but that indeed the Bunny had thrown himself into a bad position that had truly caused hurt feelings. As I sewed on the Bunnies arm I talked to him about being a tad bit over dramatic, and to go with the flow a little more in the future.

Now I am wondering what happened to his right eye and eyebrow?  Seems this Bunny has been around a bit.  And just so you know I never did find out who wrote the note, it looks like it might have been Ms. Frog, she does seem to be hiding a bit in the photo above.  And frankly she is the only one who has the skills to jump up on my desk for the paper and marker. I think it is time to put this whole ugly situation behind us, don't you?.

So Max is once again feeling tip top and he thanks you all for believing in him.  He may take you up on offers of legal consul in the future, you never know what is going to come up next.

Whew! I got back just in time to view this dramatic conclusion, Meredith, [and now need to track back and find out what I missed in your last posts :-)] Our guests are fleeing at a frantic pace. The last, my sister leaves tomorrow :-( Sending you hugs to fortify you during your summer storms and heat waves and crime conundrums!

I love happy endings and reconciliations Meredith! I'm so glad that you got to the bottom of this whole dire situation and that beautiful Max has been cleared of all blame. But just a word of warning - frog needs to be watched!!!
I have been so entertained by this and your last post, and the comments from fellow bloggers, a huge thank you!

Max told ME that a few doggie biscuits and a good ear rub would certainly help with his hard feelings of being indicted.

See I told you he was innocent, that hedgehog however looks very shifty, his eyes are to close together. Let's hope this is the end of it I'd hate to see a bunny shaped white outline on your lovely clean floors ... he he x

I knew Max was innocent!

He's so adorable, look at that sweet face, he'd never, ever hurt a bunny!

Ms. Frog totally looks guilty trying to half hide behind the rest!

Wishing you a lovely day filled with many blessings dear friend.

I am so happy that Max was found not guilty. That face is pure innocence. I agree that the frog could use some watching though. It looks like bunny is all fixed up although maybe he needs an eye patch. :-)
Blessings,

Hee-hee-hee! He looks so precious. How could anyone convict him of any crime? Give him a kiss on the nose from Pammy Sue. I wish I could do it myself!

I'm feeling quite ashamed now that I jumped to the obvious conclusion and totally thought that Max was to blame, it just goes to show that there is always more than meets the eye. Please give Max my sincere apologies and tell him that I'm so glad that this sad and sorry state of affairs has been finally concluded and his innocence has been absolutely established. Both you and Max have a great weekend! xx

Yes, I'm sure this is a big misunderstanding, and that Max found Bunny in this terrible state and was only there to protect Bunny should his attacker return.
Max is innocent! and oh so very cute!

How could you accuse Max of anything? That dog has got to be one of the most gorgeous dogs in the whole world!

You are brilliant Meredith! I would have been gripping onto my armchair except it's so darn hot!

I somehow missed this post.
I must have been out on the streets getting the petition signed! I had arranged for a photo shoot with Mr C at 10 Downing street too....
I am glad that you appear to have found the culprit
I think Bunny looks rather raffish with his one eye and mustache. I think you had better keep an eye on him!
I should think that you must be exhausted with all this sleuthing. You need a few days break and to be pampered!
Hugs

It does sound to me as if Ms Frog is a bit of a stirrer perhaps she is behind it all. I think she wants to be the centre of attention but she has overstepped herself this time! I'd watch that Madam if I were you!!!
Never-the-less best let bygones be bygones especially as Max has now been cleared of that terrible accusation.
Bunny is looking better too.

This post is a breath of fresh air Meredith
