Quick Trip

I am off for a quick trip to Ohio to see my son swim in two swim meets this weekend.  He has a big meet against West Virginia tomorrow, and on Saturday a really big meet against arch enemy Michigan.  I am so lucky to be able to pop up and see him.  I will get there just in time for the meet tomorrow evening.  Hopefully I can pop into my favorite yarn store for 20 minutes before I have to be at the meet on Saturday.  I think I have to revise my yarn diet restrictions a bit, if I buy yarn for others, or take a trip, I think I am allowed to buy yarn.  Other than that I am holding strong, It has been 33 days after all.......  Please send my boy some positive swimming mojo.  He needs it especially this weekend when future spots on the traveling team for the end of the year meets are established.  These pictures are from his high school days, they are still some of my favorites.  I will pop in and read blogs while I am gone, but probably won't comment, I am not so hot working with my ipad.

Have a wonderful weekend.

How very exciting for you and the family. I wish him all the best of luck and I hope he does well and also enjoys it. Well done on abstaining from splurging on wool, I am suitably impressed. Enjoy your weekend xoxo

Sending lots of positive vibes to son and hoping you enjoy your visit.

Re: yarn diet - You could just go into the shop and browse and seek inspiration for new projects once you have used up all your stash. It is possible to browse and not purchase, be strong.

Ach, who am I kidding....! Just make sure you show us what new delicious yarny-ness you buy and we wont mention the yarn diet.

Brilliant photos, and I do hope your son does well. Of course if you are only visiting somewhere you absolutely must buy yarn, it would be madness not to. And clearly yarn for someone else is acceptable too. After all, it's your diet - you're allowed to buy food for someone else. Hope you have a lovely trip, CJ xx

I'm from West Virginia, but didn't go to WVU, so I guess you are safe there ... ;-)

Praying for a safe trip to visit your son and that he will do very well in his meets. As for the yarn...all bets are off when you're traveling. Of course you need to buy yarn while you're visiting. It's a souvenir and those are allowed! :-)
Blessings,
Betsy

Oh Meredith have a lovely weekend with your boy. I'm sending all my good luckyness for him. The photos of him look amazing.
I feel that yarn buying is exceptable this weekend because your away from home on a weekend trip, so in away it's so bit like souvenir buying. Just make sure you share some photos.
Take care

Oh Mere, I'm so glad you get to go see your boy compete. My husband considers West Virginia home since that is where he went to college straight from Kuwait. And I have family in Michigan. Ohio, too. :) Enjoy the weekend. And yes, I agree, traveling means you definitely get to check out the yarn stores. Hugs, Tammy

How very exciting!!! Lots of swimming mojo on its way to Ohio as we speak :D Hmmm, yarn store... well I'm not one to talk and I have great talents, or so I'm told at being an enabler when it comes to the fluffy stuff! :D If you are purchasing yarn for others or on a road trip it DOES NOT COUNT toward your yarn diet! Not one single yarn calorie involved, at least that's what I hear from others who are even more experienced than I at enabling! (giggle)!
Hugs and have safe and fun trip!

Good luck to your Buckeye and the rest of the team too! Beat those Michigan weasels ;-) It is great that you are able to go there to support him and watch him swim. I'm sure that will add some speed to his strokes.
33 days is a long time...you deserve some souvenir yarn.
Safe travels and have fun!!

I always think diet revisions keep us more committed to them if we can have a little rest every now and then!! Good luck to your son. Mine used to also swim competively. While he was at high school we would rise at 4.30am and head off to the pool for two hours, have brekky there, go to school and then back to the pool for more training. And then carnivals (what you call meets) on the weekends. Much as I loved watching him and being there can't say I was too sad when he decided he had had enough!! Especially as i was pregnant with another child through much of those 4.30am starts!!! Good luck to your son. Cheers, Karen

I hope he's done fantastically, and I hope you were able to get to the LYS. Since you are on a trip, that makes it souvenir yarn, and souvenir yarn doesn't count, we all know that!

Hope he does well, and so glad for you to be able to come to all this cold weather and snow, lol, girl, you will be so glad to hop on that plane and head back to the warmth of Florida. I woke up to another 6 inches of the most beautiful snow we have has so far, but honestly I am so sick of it.
(((HUGS))) Susanne :)
