Stormy skies, and a hair cut

I woke this morning to a lovely rain with a bit of thunder here and there.  Gosh I LOVE rain, and some thunder added in is an extra bonus.  Knowing I do not have to get up and drive in it on my way to work is so nice.  I can stay in my bed a few extra minutes and just listen to the rain hitting my windows.  We have been getting some much needed rain here usually in the afternoons, which tends to be our pattern in the summer, so today's early morning showers were a special treat.  Florida is just so darn sunny all the time, give me rain and clouds any day.  It makes me feel centered, and calm.  Maybe it is because I grew up in Michigan and we had a LOT of cloudy days.  Growing up I yearned for sun, now I wish for rain and clouds.  I went out to capture the storm clouds as they broke up, here take a peek.

I could see this out my craft room window so I raced outside to capture it.   When I turned around this is the beautiful sky I was able to see....wow!

So beautiful!  An early morning rain makes everything seem fresher, like the world has had a shower and it is all clean for the start of the day.

We will pay for this rain all day with super high humidity levels, but it is worth it.

I am sad to see the deer really did damage one of my pine trees.  I don't think this little one is going to make a come back from all the bark damage.

Mr. Armadillo ran in front of Max and I as I went to take the pictures of the sky.  Max thinks he is a toy, but they can be very vicious so we kept a safe distance.

Pink seems to be my color right now which is very unusual for me.  Usually I am a gray/purple gal.  I have two Berroco sweaters going in different shades of pink and my new weaving project in Berroco Boboli Lace in this primarily pink mix.  I hope to finish this shawl this weekend.  Keep your fingers crossed I do not mess up the finish, hopefully I have learned a thing or two from my last weaving disaster.

Little Buddy got a hair cut from yours truly.  It took me two days, one for the back and one for the front and sides.  He is a squirmier!  This is morning hair so I am not sure I am showing him off in the best light, I think it still might be a work in progress.

Thank you for the lovely comments on my sweater, I think the angle of the photos make it look better than it is.  From the angle I am looking at it right now there seems to be a few imperfections I may need to fix.  Also big thanks for the well wishes for my Teenager.  He is healing up nicely and only looks a bit puffy on the bottom right side of his jaw.  He is eating soft foods but still liking all the attention...........boys!

Have a wonderful weekend, any big plans?

Great pictures. The armadillo gives me the heebeegeebees (is that a word?). :-) Your shawl is going to be beautiful. Looks like you did a great job on your little buddy's haircut. Hope you have a wonderful weekend. Take care, Heather

Your pictures are beautiful! I love a good thunderstorm, and the cloud formations are spectacular. I had no clue that armadillos were aggressive. I guess they are Florida's equivalent of raccoons.

Saturday some of our kids and their significant others are coming to celebrate Father's Day, then on Sunday I am supposed to be going to Victoria to spend a few days with Lucy. However, I still have this plague I caught last week, so may have to postpone the trip. Again. :-(

I love that you have an armadillo that comes to your yard!

We have had a LOT of rain here, and I'm hoping my plants survive - they look slightly waterlogged at the moment ...

Have a good weekend!

I love your shawl. It looks like you're using the same yarn for the warp as the rest of it. Not being a great weaver I'm never sure what to use for that. Your vest is beautiful. It's on my wish list but the way things are going....and wishes are growing....it may never get done.
Love to you and Little Buddy,
Eileen

Ha-ha! I would bet little Buddy is a squirmy sort...he just looks it - lol, but you seem to have done a good job with the haircut. Your shawl is gorgeous -- love the color. And, thank you for the beautiful sky pictures. I'm hoping our sky clears (we've had rain ALL week) so I can see the full moon tonight. Weekend plans? Relaxing and knitting and/or stitching.

I love your sky photos. I feel the same way living where I do. I relish every cloudy or rainy day we get here. You did a great job on Little Buddy's hair, it looks professional to me.

Everything is looking lovely. The armadillo must be fun to see. I have only ever seen one in my life. My son and I were just laughing the other day about the bad haircuts I used to give him. I think you did a better job than I used to.

Wow an armadillo, nothing so 'glamorous' this side of the pond. Loving that pink yarn on your weaving machine. Look forward to seeing the end result, x

I am in love with your latest pink weaving project. I just adore how the yarn makes up into that yummy fabric. Hmmm maybe I need to start weaving? On second thought, no...Hubby would throw me out if I start one more new craft!

((hugs)) to you sweet friends...and get some rest, you've been working way too hard lately. :)

We always want what we can't have Meredith, I used to feel the same when I lived in Syria when there was no rain from April to September sometimes, now I'm getting more than my fair share but I still love it, I like dark cloudy rainy days. Buddys hair looks fine when I think of the haircuts I gave my poor boys I feel so sorry for them. I love the shawl it's going to be beautiful. Have a great weekend! xxx

Beautiful pictures! I am not a pink lover....but I do like the looks of the project you have on your loom! I bet Little Buddy just wants to get down and PLAY!

I love your photos too-we have been getting rain almost every day for 3 weeks now-yesterday it rained all day but a gentle rain-love that.
today we finally have no humidity and sunshine-wow sun-lol
I remember when my Mom used to cut our hair-always fussing to sit still-lol
no plans here-perhaps catch up on weeding the garden a bit

What a beautiful sky Meredith! You caught the clouds and rays just perfectly. That armadillo is very interesting. I guess I never thought of them just running around wild in Florida. It would startle me for sure if I found one in my yard.
Little Buddy is darling and I think most boys are squirmers. I finally gave up cutting my boys hair until they got older. The barber seemed to have ways of making them sit quietly. I still cut Hubby's hair. Your shawl looks beautiful on the loom. Love the colors.
Blessings my friend,
Betsy

It is raining here this morning, but I am hoping the skies will look like yours soon since my nephew and his wife from CA are in Portland to sightsee today :)

Loved all your photos and news, Meredith! And I hope you and yours have a wonderful weekend xx

William hates having his hair cut and is super squirmy too. But Biddy is looking great. Lovel your clouds ... I love them too and constantly make pictures with them in my mind

How nice to have some rain. We'd sure love to get some too. Great photos. And, I love your newest weaving project. It's really pretty!

It's raining here now!!! Which is why I'm here and not outside playing in one of my gardens.
So nice to finally have the time stop by and let my blog friends know I haven't forgotten them.
Your photos are lovely and I share your love the rain. I'm always a more thoughtful and centered person in drizzly weather. In a calm rain, I love to sit on our covered deck and listen to it, and if there is a bit of distant thunder, then I am in my glory.
Happy Summer to you!
Andrea

I always feel like I've had the best fresh-water shower when the rain finally appears after long dry spells; isn't it a wonderfully cleansing blessing! Your sky pics are great Meredith; I'm loving your pink weaving; and Little Buddy looks so cute sporting his new haircut - you've done a great job Mom, especially with a squirmer - and I think most little ones are at that age!
Happy weekend to you and yours, and oh yes, watch out for that armadillo! Big hugs, Joy xo

Your latest weaving project is an amazing colour :) What do you make with the fabric (is that the right word) that you weave ?
CanNOT believe that you can take a photo of an armadillo just wandering about ! That's mad!

Thunderstorms are the best. I missed your last post, so must tell you I love the sweater. Such a pretty color! I've never seen an armadillo, I think it would scare the heck out of me if I ever saw one crawling across my lawn!

Have a great weekend, Meredith!

Hi Meredith, that's one sweet little haircut, he's such a cutie.

The rain sounds delightful, but the humidity not so much. Your flowers are stunning, especially with the added water drops.

Wow - you have armadillos in your garden? Didn't realise they were vicious - how big are they?

You did a great job with the haircut, I am afraid I always sent my lads off to the barbers!

We have also had some quite heavy thundery downpours here, today just dull and grey though.

Have a great weekend, Helenxx

I have found as I get older that it is harder to tolerate the heat and I welcome shady spots, either from clouds or parasol, trees etc
Well done on cutting the hair of squirmer lol.
You are really get the hang of weaving now and I look forward to your tah dah moment in the near future.

Meredith- we've had some powerful storms here-- our electric was off for 3 days last week-- ugh, no fun!

Your boy could not be cuter- he makes my heart smile every time I see his pictures.

I don't know how you find the time to do your weaving!! It's truly gorgeous-- I am in awe!

I was writing you a long comment about armadillos in the back garden and how my grandsons would be impressed when my puter decided to close down and update and I lost it!!! I loved your cloud and flower pics. We have more than our fair share of rain here in Wales but I never get tired of watching the continually changing clouds!! Funnily enough I had just cut my husbands hair before I read your blog. Thanks so much for all your encouraging emails and comments over these last months. Joan

We seldom have thunderstorms despite our frequent rains. Loved your photos, especially the one of LB. I think barbers earn their pay on little guys! You did well, too! Good luck on your next weaving project; you seem to have a natural talent for that craft even though the last project didn't work too well. We all have those kind of days no matter the craft.....

Little Buddy's hair cut looks pretty good from here. I cut Stephen's hair once --------let's just say there WASN'T a second attempt. LOL

Happy Father's Day to John!

Oh that sweet little man and his new hair cut! You've done well. Lovely weaving as well, you've really got the hang of it now. Fancy having an armadillo wandering about the place, we'd be beside ourselves. I know exactly what you mean about rain, I'm hoping for some here as well. Mostly so that I don't have to spend ages watering things!

I love rain, too, especially when there is thunder and I am safely sheltered!

Thanks for sharing the armadillo! Very exotic.

I used to cut my kid's hair when they were little. They are so cute they do not need "perfect" styling.

How's the weaving goining on? Have a nice Sunday! Hugs to you. Regula

Is there anything more beautiful than the rays of the sun shining out from behind clouds? Great photos.

I think LB's haircut looks pretty good! I cut C's hair too, fortunately his hair is a bit curly so any uneven parts (and trust me, there are many!) are fairly well hidden ... Mostly! I sometimes have to resort to bribes to help him sit still.

Florida does indeed make beautiful rain clouds and playing around with the sun!!
Lovely pink with your weaving!! And you did an awesome job with your Little Buddy's hair cut!!
