Zick Zacking along, a gift and some wishes to return to my trip................

My Zick Zack Scarf/Shawl is not zooming along as fast as I would like.  I actually did not knit for over a week after returning home from our short trip.  So much work to do and things to catch up on at home left me with no time to knit.  But this past weekend I was able to get moving on it.  I needed to lighten my heavy heart so I watched Bridget Jones Diary, and Bridget Jones, The Edge of Reason to make me smile while I knit away on this project.  Give me a little Colin Firth any day to lighten my mood, he is my all time celebrity crush. If he were to walk up to my door and ask me to go away with him, I am going, I am just saying, I am leaving every thing and every body and I am going with him.  I am making this Zick Zack for my friend Sue who just lost her husband, our dear friend.  It was a tough weekend with the celebration service for his life on Saturday, my husband had to speak at it, he did a wonderful job.  I think she might like an actual hug to pull around herself in her sadder moments.  That is why I am trying to get this done as fast as I can, which is actually turning out to be not very fast at all.

Upon returning home from the service and the gathering afterward, I found this amazing surprise in my mailbox.  From my darling and wonderful friend Tammy.  How did she know I would need a little surprise from a dear friend right at that very moment?  Tammy you are just the best.  Thinking of me and knowing the exact time I might need a special something in the mail to pick up my spirits.  A thousand thank yous are being sent your way for always being so positive, uplifting and seeing so much beauty in life.  You are an inspiration to me every day and I thank you for your amazing gift.  The dream catcher is already up in my studio/office just waiting to catch my dreams, and the wonderful book is ready to write them all down in.  Tammy your are such a special person, I am so glad we are friends.

Talk about an inspiration, this little guy inspires me every day.  We rode in a van in Wisconsin and he loved it.  So now we have to play, "van" almost every day.  I wasn't getting much done with all the playtime so I made up a van for him to drive his friends around.  Doesn't he still look so little when his glasses are off and he has his footie pj's on?  He is now officially on the weight and growth chart.  He is hovering between the 3-5% for both but we are finally on it in both areas so that is what is most important!

I am missing the wonderful time we had in Wisconsin to just be with Little Buddy.  I thought I would show you how we don't always look so perfect.  Oh yes we have lots of fun, but I have wrinkles and a saggy neck, and he squints, but it doesn't matter because I simply adore this little boy of mine.  He makes me laugh and smile every single day.  I am so blessed he has entered my life and is a part of my family.

While in Wisconsin he ate every meal in a high chair made by his Great, Great Grandfather on my MIL's side of the family.  This is the same man who made that amazing wooden and marble table I have shown before on my blog.  I think it is so special that Little Buddy now has a history with this precious chair.  It once also converted to a stroller, but now only has two of the original wheels.  My husbands Father once was cleaning out the garage and put this by the curb for the garbage man to pick up,  My MIL was not at home at the time and her best friend, and next door neighbor, saw it and rescued it, thank goodness for that!  Not sure my FIL was allowed to clean out the garage again after that episode.

I will leave you with a messy face smile to lighten your day.  Hope you have a wonderful week.

I absolutely love the colours in your zick zack wrap, a lovely thoughtful gift. Buddy is simply the cutest, I love the van set up with his friends, he looks like he's concentrating hard on his driving xx

I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend, Meredith. You've suffered so many losses recently and I'm very sorry. The scarf is beautiful, I love the way the colors are pooling in the zig-zag pattern. I'm so glad Little Buddy enjoyed riding in the van and you're a great mom to recreate the experience at home for him. He looks like he's having a blast. :)

The colorful shawl is so beautiful, Meredith, and she will appreciate the hugs it gives her. I am certain! You are very clever to help LB create his van and I love seeing all the photos of you with him...I see not one flaw in either of you :) The near abandoning of the high chair [GASP!] story and it's rescue by a kind neighbor left me smiling. Tammy is indeed kind and generous and we are blessed to have our blog friendships with her. Thanks for contributing to the beginning of a wonderful week which I hope you have too! xx

You and your Lil Buddy look so beautiful on those Wisconsin rocks. How blessed your lives are now that they are forever entwined. I still marvel at your adopting him.
Driving the van play time is hysterical. I LOVE it.
Glad Tammy made your return great.
The gift for your grieving pal is too nice for words.
How did Max do while your were away? Im sure he is happy to see you home again.

Great pictures of you guys out by the lake. I can almost feel the breeze. L.B. looks like he means business driving his toys around in his "van" :)

What a lovely post, Mere, full of happy and sad and pretty and funny things. I knew those gifts were from Tammy even before you said her name - they just have Tammy written all over them.

The Zick Zack is a beautiful, thoughtful gift for your grieving friend.

So glad you had a good time with LB in Wisconsin. It's pretty nice here.

P.S. You should see my saggy neck. It's hardly a neck at all - more of a chin that has collapsed chestwards. I hate it and am looking forward to one day being old enough that it won't matter any more. :D

Dear sweet Meredith. I hope this is a wonderful week for you. You've had a lot of heartache in the last year and you deserve the happiness that I see on your face when you're playing with LB. Your zick sack scarf is gorgeous and I know your friend will love it and will feel your love wrapping around her each time she uses it. Your package from Tammy is wonderful too and we are also blessed to have her in our lives just as you are. I'm thinking of you each and every day dear Meredith. Please know that I'm praying for you and for your friend. I'm honored to count you as my friend. Blessings, Betsy

Lovely post, the Lake pictures are wonderful and the 'van' driving brings back many memories of when my own were that age lol the fun they had with cardboard boxes. The imagination of children always amazes me. The colours in the zick zack scarf are lovely and Iam sure your friend will appreciate the gift. Iam with Chris on Aidan Turner 💕 your welcome to Colin Firth though ;0) x

Aw, look at that happy boy! : )
I love the ZickZack scarf, btw, is it difficult to knit? I tried the crochet Chevron stitch and it was good fun...

Well, first and foremost, "perfect" is WAY over-rated. You both look happy on those rocks in front of the lake, and THAT is what is important.
The scarf is wonderful and she will love it, I'm sure. Using it for a hug is so comforting to think about.
The "van" is just grand. The things they remember.... or make such an impression... we just never know!!
And I am sure I am partial, but love little Buddy in his Bucky shirt!!!!!!! On, Wisconsin!! :-)

Little Buddy DOES look so much younger without the glasses. Maybe I should try that. LOL

The pictures of you two ate so precious! I am glad someone rescued that chair. What an heirloom! Looks like it is Little Buddy approved!

Nothing, absolutely nothing, brightens my day and my heart like that face and that smile of Little Buddy. He is such an adorable little man. Love the colours in your shawl. Your friend will feel the love in each stitch each time she wraps it around herself. Sending you tons of love and hugs.

Oh, Mere, you are so beautiful inside and out! And both of those aspects are so clear in the lovely pictures of you and LB!
My friend here in California teaches preschool special education, and she loves your photos of LB. A number of years ago, she took in a student for two years as a foster parent, and that little boy is now a man going to college! You two remind me of each other.
That shawl is so lovely and the perfect gift for your friend. Wrapping such love around her shoulders will be a real comfort.

It has been such a difficult time for all of you. Going through some hard times here as well...however, as always that little guy always lifts our hearts. I do love the photos of you and him being so loving and happy.
Your scarf is just beautiful.
Do let us forget the shagginess and wrinkles, because if it were a contest, you know that I would win for certain.
Sending love, E.
