Missing all of you, a shawl and a Little B story........

I just have to say I am missing all of you.  I feel like I have left for an isolated vacation, (one I probably really need in real life) and I am missing our chats over the backyard fence or over a cup of tea.  How are you?  How is your family?  Any news?

I thought I would pop in for a quick hello.  Finding time to do my mindfulness course remains an issue.  I know, then why are you on your blog Meredith?  I can pop out a quick post while Little Buddy is up and about and must save the course for naptime.   I am on week four so hopefully I can take what I can use and store away the rest of the information for when I have a quieter time in my life.  As for this week I had a special appointment with Little B on Monday, a new baby to evaluate on Wednesday, writing up that evaluation and then a bout with the flu/ norovirus/ food poisoning or something like that.  My poor husband had to attend a meeting at school for Little B instead of me as I was flat on my back in bed Friday.  I told him to smile and nod at all the teachers and therapists, they know what they are doing, and have our little ones best interest at heart.

As for Little B, this is almost direct quote from his report.  When asked a question he does not want to answer ( Little Buddy ) will say, "my voice box is not working" and then place his hand over his mouth.  Made you smile didn't I?

My latest shawl is finished.  Do you remember when I recently purchased the yarn above?  Well it made a beautiful shawl.  I had the sudden urge to crochet another South Bay Shawlette with this yarn.  I had already started when I found out a dear friend has breast cancer.  I knew then that this was for her.  She is struggling as we all would be but there is great hope that it can be contained with another surgery and radiation treatments.  I have been through those so I know this is not and easy road.  I hope to be there for her as much as I can and wrap her in my love with this shawl.

Made with Queensland Collection, Sunshine Coast yarn, two skeins totaling 580 yards, and a size I hook.  I plan to give it to her very soon, I hope it helps.

Okay I am out of here.  As for Earth Day Yesterday, I hope you all at least thought about the Earth and what a precarious position it is in these days.  If you want to read the damage that has been done to our Earth and the environment already by our current president this article by the Huffington Post says it all much better than I could.  We are on a dangerous path in so many ways my friends.

Take Care.

Good morning Meredith! So sorry you've been sick. That's a very miserable illness to have. Hard to get over too! Your shawl is just gorgeous and so gracious of you to give it to a friend in need. I know it will remind her of your friendship every time she wraps up in it.

Have a great week.

Stomach issues are the worst! Give me a sore throat any day.
So sorry about your friend. Luckily, so many women survive breast cancer. I will cross my fingers for her.
Yes, I laughed out loud about LB's voice box. He is smart as a whip!
You are one of the few people who will understand when I say that I have only one more annual IEP to do!! There will be a few review/revises, but the end is in site!

Gorgeous shawl, I hope it will bring your friend comfort. Little B did indeed make me smile with his excellent answer. Sorry you've been unwell, that's a miserable thing to have. I hope the mindfulness course is going well and that you are feeling its benefit. I need a little focus here at the moment, not quite sure how to achieve it - just to keep trying I guess. Sending you a cyber hug, and I hope you are completely well very soon. CJ xx

So glad to see you back if only for a quick visit. I did smile at your little guys report! Too funny. Your shawl is just beautiful and I just know that your friend will feel the love you put into each stitch. I hope you're doing much better today and over the dreaded bug. What's new with us? I'm sitting in my trailer at the lake right now. Yay!!! My back is a bit better and I'm a happy girl.

The shawl you made is lovely and I'm sure your friend will enjoy it. I should hit my knitting needles and make a prayer shawl for my friend who is suffering with brain cancer. It's relatively easy and maybe it would be good for her. Megan is hoping to get a job interview very soon. From the phone interview that went so well, she is hoping to get the job that is in her career field. It's a chilly day again and a bit of rain! Again. I've missed you as well. Glad you're doing ok, and feeling better each day. Take care!

Hi Meredith,

Nice that you could pop in. I have missed you too. Sorry you have been horribly unwell. That can leave you feeling 'washed out' for days and weeks afterwards.
I've been unwell too but just the usual autoimmune fatigue stuff etc.

Little Buddy is so clever. I keep thinking how lucky he is to have a family who have nurtured him so well that his intelligence has a chance to shine. Cheeky monkey! hehehe in an adorable way, of course!

Your shawl is beautiful. Your close up photo of the stitches is excellent. It shows up the colours very well. It will bring comfort to your friend, for sure.

All the best with your mindfulness course. Does it worry you that "storing away the information"..for a "quieter time in my life" might lose the momentum of your current study? What if life doesn't quieten down for a long while? I am hoping that your mindfulness course can help you to create that quiet time for yourself. Having said that, I know how hectic life can be and one can only absorb the new ideas from study when the conditions are conducive.

Thanks for keeping us all up to date with your news. Nice to see you! xx

I hope you are enjoying your mindfulness course. It is so nice to take some time out of our busy lives to think about how we interact with others and also treat ourselves and to be mindful in our lives. I love how your shawl turned out! I am sure it will bring your friend some comfort at this difficult time in her life. I took time to think of the earth and how beautiful it truly is, it is sad how we have polluted the air and are destroying Earth, hoping we can make some positive changes in the future with more awareness.

I enjoyed your 'pop in' Meredith. I was wondering how things were going. A lot on your plate I can see. Sorry about your illness...flat on your back, how miserable. Little Buddy makes me smile and that quirky little voice thing surely had you laughing as well!

I love the shawl and the colors. Your friend is going to appreciate that warmth and the warmth of your thoughtfulness and caring. I pray she makes a good recovery.

Keep up a good pace without overdoing it. And blog whenever you want to document your days.

Good morning Meredith,

That shawl is too lovely for words, and will make a beautiful gift for your friend going through some difficult times. Love and prayers to her.

Little Buddy and his voice box! That is just way too cute.

It is so very difficult to sit back and watch powerful people be so irresponsible with our beautiful planet.

Love and hugs to you,
Andrea

Little B is one smart cookie. Too bad The Donald's voice box and tweeter thumbs won't stop working. A dangerous path indeed. Sending positive thoughts and healing wishes for your friend. I'm sure all the shawls you've made have brought many blessings to the receiver. Hugs, Tammy

Well the fact that you popped in for a little hello and update seems like the mindfulness has some balance working for you in my humble opinion. Little B. is going to outwit us all. LOL. What a cutie. I'm sorry about being ill, I hope you're doing better. Your shawl is really featuring that colorway and I can only imagine the next one will be just as good. I'm so sorry about your friend. I'm glad she has you.

Thanks for popping in - it's always good to hear from you! Little Buddy has the greatest sense of humor...I mean, how does he come up with things like, "My voice box isn't working"?! So cute.

I am so sorry you were sick. Hope you are on the road to healing by now.

Your shawl is gorgeous. Your friend will love it. I have several friends with breast cancer right now and even though I've sent them little presents, there is nothing like something homemade.

Gracie Saylor said...

Yes, Little B's quote did make me smile :) The shawl is a wonderful gift to wrap your friend with love and encouragement. I just got an email from a friend who completed treatment for breast cancer, and found she is currently cancer free, and I pray that will be the result for your friend, too. Now, my dear Meredith, as you are being mindful, please mind that you get plenty of rest. May the Lord's joy be your strength. xx
