This little one has been plenty sick these last few days. Isn't that the saddest face ever? My little boy started throwing up Thursday morning, my poor husband had to deal with three of them, then my oldest son one more before I got home from work. Oh he has been miserable, moaning and carrying on. I got the last, "Frow Up" Thursday evening. Yesterday he spent the entire day planted in this spot on the sofa watching his shows. I thought we had turned the corner last night when he was giggling a bit but then today he is back on the sofa with his blanket and shows on and a bit of moaning here and there. Maybe he just likes to be waited on like a prince? Not much eating has happened which always worries me as Little Buddy needs every calorie we can get in him. Of course his six year check up is this week and he will have lost weight right before it, isn't that always the way?
As I have been restricted to about a 10 foot radius around Little Buddy the past two days a lot of crocheting has been completed while I sit on the sofa next to him. I am currently trying to make the Sweet Clara Top by Kristen Omdahl. Once again I had a bit of a hard time with the pattern. I swear I just like a graph nowadays, my brain just doesn't seem to keep up with a written pattern. After working through the third row of the pattern about a million times I think I have it. I ripped this sweater out so many times I can't keep track of it. Once you get it right it just seems so simple and you can't figure out what took you so long to understand it. Anyway, I am hoping it all turns out. And by the looks of Little B this morning I just might be crocheting a good part of today, too. I am not sure how much more Disney Jr., my brain can handle. This yarn was bought when a local yarn store was closing, Universal Yarn Inc., Cotton Supreme DK. I am in love with it, so soft and beautiful and a bargain too I might add.
We have had so many storms these past few days. Actually the thunder is rumbling right now as I type this with a gentle rain falling outside. I love days when I can be at home while it rains. It feels so cozy inside. I drive through so much rain during the week it is a special treat to be at home, typing away, listening to Little Buddy talk to the TV, while drinking a cup of tea. There have been a few storms at home too, big boys are not fully grown up when you think they are. They both need to cook a bit more before they can be called mature and be ready to be all on their own.
As for this guy, well you all know how much I love him. He will be 13 very soon and I am so blessed he is still here with us making all of our lives brighter. I seem to be posting once a week lately, not much I can do about that during this busy summer. Hope you are all well and enjoying your weekend.

It's nice to hear you found some silver linings to this stormy few days! The new yarn is excellent-I prefer to read a crochet chart and feel discourage when it is only written! lol Hope Buddy feels better soon!
That is indeed a very sad face. I feel for your sick ones. I hate stomach flu; give me a cold any day over that. And you have my sympathy for all that Disney. I am not a fan. Too slick, too corporate, too invasive. But if it helps LB get through, I'd sit through it, too.
I much prefer charts to written directions most of the time. It helps give me a big picture of what I'm doing rather than focusing on each stitch.
Oh dear. Two sad faces in your post. I expect better weather will make everyone happier. At least you will be at the medical check up to explain the weight loss. I'm reminded about the TWO times our daughter told her teachers that we don't feed her. What she didn't explain was that she was going through a "refusing to eat" stage, which we were trying to deal with by making her eat at the table before the tv was switched on. We didn't allow snacking in front of the tv. I think the teachers believed us. Though we had to tell Daughter not to say that again at school. KIDS!!
Sorry to hear he's been ill, he looks so sad. Hope he's on the mend soon. We've had a ton of thunder storms too.
Oh I hate it when the kids or grands are sick! Poor baby, I hope he feels better soon. Take care of you Mere!! Hugs!
Hope Little Buddy is feeling better soon. That IS a sad face.
The yarn you chose is so beautiful. That green is lovely! Happy crocheting.
I'll be frogging back a little to start my day and then it is ONWARD!!!
I'm so sorry to hear Little Buddy is sick again. That is indeed a pitiful face. We've had a lot of storms here in northern IL, too. In fact, much of our area is flooded, as there's two major rivers and a lot of lakes. I feel so sorry for the people whose houses are flooded - two friends included. Our sump pump is going non-stop and the humidity is insane, but we're safe.
If it makes you feel any better, my young adult son that graduated last year and now lives back at home, still has a lot of "cooking" to do, too. We've had some really stressful, trying times.
Poor little guy.. I hope that bug evacuates the scene swiftly! But I'm glad it's the weekend and it's stormy outside so cuddling up with him on the sofa during the storms and rain sound good. I know it's hard to mostly grown boys to come home and have to be a kid again after being independent. It's all part of the growing up thing. Good luck on your crochet.. it looks really gorgeous!! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Hugs for a sweet little Buddy who feels tough. Hugs for everyone.

Hopefully Buddy will be over his tummy issues soon. No fun! We had a wee bit of rain on Thursday and now its high 80s today. staying in except for grocery shopping and shoe shopping. Happy weekend!
I applaud you for even having the time or energy to post this. Kids require a lot of attention sick or not. When my girls were little and had a bug, they would scream if I even tried to leave the room. I pray Buddy gets well soon and puts that weight back on. My problem is always gaining a few pounds before my physical!
Keep up the knitting, it's therapeutic.

Sorry to hear your Little-est Monkey is poorly. May he get better quickly. Sorry also that the Bigger Monkeys are misbehaving but I know what that's like! Miserable, grey day here. Our weather is misbehaving badly too!! Lovely colour of yarn, Meredith. No wonder you can't concentrate on pattern though, with all that goes on around you on a daily basis! xx
The frow ups are no fun. None at all. I hope he's on the mend soon. That crochet project is beautiful...but that chart! Mama mia...it made my eyes go cross.
Hope Little Buddy is feeling better soon and we see a happy face again.x
Such droopy eyes, I hope LB is feeling better. It's nice you got some crocheting in, though. Silver linings are the best. I do like that shade of green!
Oh poor little man, that is indeed a sad face. I do hope he's all better very soon, it's horrible when they're not very well. Love the last photo, Max is utterly gorgeous. I hope you have a restful day tomorrow and that your Little Buddy is well and truly on the mend. CJ xx
His little face does capture sadness and not feeling well. Hope he feels better soon and all gets back to par. Totally understand the tired brain and working on patterns. Your dear dog is doing so well to be there with you all those years. Wishing you well. Christy
Oh poor little Buddy, I truly hope he feels better soon, it's so horrible to be sick. I think our children often go back to being children when they're in their family homes with parents and siblings. I find crochet charts so much harder to follow xx
Frow ups are the worst - hope the little guy is feeling better soon!
First time visitor...I hope your little guy is doing better....I met Kristen a couple years ago at a Stitches event...she was very nice...I haven't crocheted one of her patterns in awhile....
Feel better Little Buddy.
It's a lot of work with three sons no matter how old.
Your sweet doggy. We have had lots of storms here. One of our dogs shakes all over during the thunder.
Hope all returns to a good normal soon.
Hope the sad face turns happy soon! I always prefer charts to written instructions.
*Poor Little B, hope he feels better very soon!
*Overhere, it's also a rainy and stormy period and a few hours later it's suddenly very sunny and warm.
*I can feel your love for your dog throughout the picture you took :-)
Hope he will be with you for a long time to come. My oldest cat is now 15,5 years and I'm so worried when I think of the fact that he's really old and won't be able to stay here very long. My daughter will be so sad, because it's her favorite cat... Oh, I guess we'll have to try and not think of that yet, and enjoy each day with our pets.
*Good luck watching Disney Junior ;-)
Take care, Sigrid
Oh my goodness....that is the cutest sad faced little guy I've ever seen. I hope he feels better soon. Tummy aches are no fun at all. I love that Sweet Clara Top you're working on. I booked marked it for future reference. I want to give that pattern a try.
Have a nice weekend, enjoy a cup of tea now and then and some rows in green. Hugs, Regula
It's no fun at all being sick but I remember myself how better I felt when my mum had made me a bed on the settee, I'm sure Little Buddy feels the same. Lovely to see Max, bless him, glad he's still hanging on in there, beautiful boy. We've had storms here too, we'd had a leak in the roof and got it mended just in time before the heavens opened on Friday night, a big sigh of relief here.
Oh, ugh--the 'frow ups'. Is anything worse, especially for children? I'm sorry for all of you.
Love the colour of that yarn.
Poor Little Buddy, and poor you. Well, except for the part about getting extra crochet time. This is just a suggestion, but if nobody else in your house comes down with the flu you might want to reconsider what LB has. There are other things that can look like the flu, but aren't. Things like appendicitis or strep.
The timing with the yearly appointment is so typical as you say! A year of growth in many other ways right? big boy pants and swimming goals met!!!!
Give that lil one a wink for me. He is in the best hands.
Your golden is golden and so precious.
Glad you have some have to sit and crochet time. Your shawls, sweaters etc are always always beautiful.
Poor boy! I hope today finds him much, much better. That sweet little face. Of course it would be the week oh his Dr. visit. Isn't that always the way? Lots of snuggle time. We haven't had rain in weeks but t it IS unusually hot here right now though. Sweet Max. I love his face. Lots of hugs to you my friend.
Blessings,
Betsy
Hope that Buddy is on the mend now and that you had a good weekend together. Enjoy the lighter workload and make the most of it for some you time!
Poor little man, hope he is feeling better soon. How different we all are, I struggle with a graph and much prefer the written pattern. Beautiful colour yarn.
Oh, that is a sad face! I hope he recovers like gangbusters. Meanwhile, crochet on!
Hope little Buddy is feeling better. He looks cute sitting there watching tv on the couch. That's great you have been able to get a lot of crocheting done while sitting with Buddy. I love listening to the rain inside too, it is so calming. Your top is looking lovely so far, I really like the color and the details. Happy crocheting
poor sweetie..hope he is feeling much better today..
sweet Buddy - hope he is feeling better xo
and Max ... that precious face ♥ such a sweet heart.
Ugh! So sorry Little Buddie got a bug. So far I had a day of rain on Nantucket, a fierce thunderstorm in Michigan, and last night was awakened by a thunderstorm here in Nebraska. Rainy days at home are a favorite of mine, too. Please give Max some love pats from me :) xx
Hi Mere, I've been so out of touch and am trying to catch up. Hope that by now LB is back to being his old happy self and has regained those lost pounds. Stomach flu is the worst! From reading your sister's blog, it sounded like one of your older boys has been ill. I hope he's on the mend as well. And you my friend, take it easy; I hope you have some down time as it sounds like between work and family you don't get a lot of rest. Anyhow, know that your and your whole family are in my thoughts. Oh, and I hope your projects behave now, too. Hugs!
