Proud, tired and a finish...........

I can't write a post without saying how utterly proud I am of all the young people participating in the March For Our Lives march yesterday.  I watched speeches and footage of this incredible event with tears in my eyes.  How well spoken all of these young people are, so determined to fight for what is right.  They are years beyond me at that age, but in a way I guess they have to be.  They have been subjected to gun violence their whole lives. They have seen story after story about how young people just like them have been subjected to gun violence or worse seen it first hand.  It makes me have hope that the future is with our young people, they know what is right and wrong a lot better than the rest of us.  They speak up and soon they will vote.  I am amazed at their eloquence and persistence.  Well done to all of them and all of the other folk out there supporting them and speaking their truth.

Friends I have to make this fast because I am tired.  March has kicked my work butt.  I just finished my last report, seven to be exact, on top of all the work I normally do.  I am so tired I hurt if you what I mean.  My body hurts, my head, my shoulders, back and my arms.  I suppose it has to do with working on kids all day and lifting up Little Buddy, he is getting very long.

I don't even have a puppy photo for you.  Seems I have missed a whole week of their growth.  They will be five months old tomorrow.

I do have a finish, my second this year.  How pathetic is that?

Let me introduce you to the Habitat Cardigan.  I can't remember where I saw this or how I found the pattern.  See friends my brain is mush.  It took me way too long to make.  It also took me way too long to get gauge, and  I still somehow got the whole sweater too short.  But I like it.  I can picture myself on chilly days popping this on in the evening to snuggle.  Too bad those chilly days won't be back until October.  I used Juniper Moon Farm Moonshine from my stash to make this, about 1,379 yards.  I ended up using a size M hook to get gauge, well beyond what the pattern called for.  Still it is a finish people, one that I will wear.  So I count that as and accomplishment considering my busy life of late.

And I just had to add this.  Little Buddy received a fun surprise in the mail from a very, very caring and special blog friend.  It is his first pinata and he was thrilled.  He is on Spring Break this week although I am not.  He has a wee cough so needs some time to regroup.  Hope you all have a great week.

I'm with you on being proud of the young people in the March For Our Lives! I also have felt heartened for the future seeing these young people stand up for what is right. I can't wait till they are all voting! Little Buddy and I share the cough.. I hope he's over it quicker than I get over them. Bravo on your sweater, it definitely looks cozy! You might even need it in your AC house over the summer. Now.. time for you to take care of yourself and get some rest, young lady! LOL! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Watching the news coverage of the March For Our Lives, and listening to those young people's speeches gave me a hope that I haven't felt for some time. I truly believe this generation is going to some big things. You have certainly had a plateful of late. Which makes me say thank you again for your kind words and taking the time to write. Big hugs to you, Meredith.

Nice finish!! I love the look of this....just put the pattern in my Ravelry library. I'm thinking of giving it a try. Looks so comfy.

Meredith, you are doing a lot better than me at finishing this year. (So many items on my WIP list but few finishes.)

Your Habitat Cardigan is the most beautiful pink shade. I love it!

Nothing wrong with short cardigans. They don't get their hems caught up in things like car doors, dishwashers, lavender hedges etc. I prefer cropped jackets these days because they don't get caught in my wheelchair wheels. Somehow the regular length jackets get past the skirt guards to pick up dirt from the wheels.

If you like your cardigan, that's all that matters and that spells S-U-C-C-E-S-S to me!

Your country can be proud of the articulate and courageous young people. I heard one of them being interviewed; they were asked, "What makes you think you can make a difference this time - there was Columbine and Sandy Hook - if those events didn't change anything, why would they change now?"
The student astutely replied,"The children of Sandy Hook were too young and powerless to have a voice but we are old enough to raise our voices and we are fortunate enough to live in an affluent area with a lot of support and more resources available to us now than the Columbine students had."

Just the level of comprehension, analysis and socio-economic awareness for someone so young is impressive.

What a lovely cardigan, it looks so snuggly. Little Buddy is looking very inquisitively into that pinata, I wonder what he found in there.

So great to see young people standing up for what they believe in. Sorry you've been so busy, I hope things quieten down a little for you. The cardigan is lovely, I would be beside myself if I'd finished two things already this year! It's very definitely still cardigan weather here, in fact we're all still in thick coats. I do have washing out on the line today though, and the sun is shining. I hope Little Buddy is all better soon, and that he has a good week off. Look after yourself Meredith, CJ xx

Even with all you do, you manage to finish wearable clothing. That's definitely an accomplishment to be proud of. I watched many of the speeches from Saturday's march and do believe change is going to come. In fact, lots of change because that's the only way out of the mess we are currently in. Shame on those who try to twist the narrative of what's going on and make up blatant lies or attack the kids for standing up and speaking out. Hugs for both you and Little B (and those pups).

I, too, watched the March For Our Lives from D.C. and was impressed and hopeful. These young people have benefitted from a rich program of the arts and debate, and a school system that helped them understand critical thinking and verbal expression. Add that to their ready use of social media platforms, and this is a true Movement. The most vital part of the speeches--aside from their obvious emotional impact--was the idea that they stressed VOTING FOR CHANGE. Tables were set up at these and sibling rallies to register voters and to provide information regarding voting. This injects more momentum to the already inspired women and minority voters who have scored seats locally and statewide, building to a Blue Wave in the midterms.

Rest up, Meredith. Grab peace whenever and wherever you can find it.

The cardigan is just lovely! That little pinata is just the cutest thing. It made me miss my students. We made little pinatas every year for Cinco de Mayo and hung them all over the classroom. Good times.

I too am so proud of the young people taking a moral stand and their fearlessness makes me have hope for the future. Your cardigan is beautiful - I love the color. I think there must be something in the ethers right now because I've been so busy - a good busy though - that it feels like I'm in a whirlwind. Today is my first day to catch my breath and it's so nice to check out old blog friends! Sweet little pinata for Buddy!

I have seen a few short clips of young Americans talk and it moved me to tears. There is an amazing young generation growing up, ready to address what needs changing for a better future.

I am sorry you are so very tired, I hope things slow down a bit now that the seven reports are finished. Wishing you a wonderful week, hopefully with small pockets of time for making, relaxing and enjoying the company of your sweet little buddy. xx

I feel sorry for you that you haven't got the time to do more knitting/crocheting, but this cardigan is gorgeous! Such a warm color!
I'm with you when you say that you hope that the future is with the young people of today. We seem to have totally messed up. It is too sad for words.
Luckily you've ended with such a sweet picture if Little B. So glad that kids can give us back a warm feeling when we need it most.
Take care and I hope you have a cheerful Easter,
Sigrid
