Well my friends as of this morning I am done shopping for Christmas and I just want to shout it from the rooftops. I am not a Christmas fan, all the extra work just plain wears me out. So I am just going to take this moment to brag a little. I am done shopping, writing cards, and decorating the house although the dreaded tree needs to go up this weekend. I have sorted gifts so I know that everyone is getting the same amount of presents. I have teachers and therapist's presents and gift cards ready to go. Sorry if I am sounding a bit full of myself but I am just so thrilled to be this far along with 12 more days to go. Christmas is a part time job with my already full time job, there is just so much to get ready, it is all so exhausting. So for now getting the tree up and decorated and wrapping all the presents, yup still have not even started that, and then I will be completely done! There has even been a trip to see Santa, which was very magical and special for one darling little boy I know.
The nativity scene above was in my family as long as I can remember. My father gave it to me several years ago. He thought they bought it in the 1950's. It is such a treasure to me and makes me think my parents are still with me. There was always a single Christmas light lit up in the loft representing the North Star. It is pretty beat up, and I know it has seen better days but still it is so precious to me.
Look at this darling sheep I got in the mail last Saturday. A dear blogging friend sent it my way and I am just thrilled. I also received a beautiful candy cane stitch marker from another dear friend that is currently being worn on my necklace. Thank you so much my friends, your kindness is so appreciated.
Back to bragging........ I did finish the two scarves for Little Buddy's teacher and his exceptional learning teacher. They are both so wonderful and spend so much time helping him to be the best he can be. I am not sure anyone even likes homemade presents anymore but I thought I would give this a go as the yarn is beautiful and I wanted them to get something nice made just for them. You all know this pattern, The Queen Anne's Lace Scarf made with my remaining Mountain Colors yarn in Harmony Iris Light and a size I hook. Approximately 120 yards of yarn used to make each scarf. Now remember I had to make these twice as I flubbed up both of them the first time I made them. So maybe I should not be bragging at all!
And just because they are so darn cute here are Hank and Bear hoping to make you smile. Have a great weekend my friends.

Meredith, I am thrilled for you that you are so far along in your preparations for Christmas. I remember well how stressful it could be when the kids were all home and I worked full-time. There were just never enough minutes in the days. I wish I could transport myself to your house to help wrap gifts for you. :-)
I love, love, love that you have your parents nativity. Mandy will someday get the one that I have. I made it 41 Christmas's ago for Dennis and my first Christmas together. She would love it now but I won't part with it yet. She did get our family Christmas tree skirt the first year she moved out and had her own tree. I had crocheted a new one and she always loved it. I know she will cherish the family decorations and pass them on to Piper some day.
That first photo of the snowman is SO cute. I adore snowmen and have them out all winter. It helps keep the house cheerful when the Christmas decorations go back to storage.

I'm proud of you for being so organized! I am doing pretty good, too.. just some final this-es and thats. You're so lucky that you have the family heirloom nativity. We never had one when I was growing up. I don't even know where my mom's xmas decorations went too. Those fur boys of yours bring a smile to my face each time you share them. Nicely done, this is impressive stuff. I have done almost nothing. I don't know why buy I am having a huge problem with Christmas this year. I think it's because I'm busy and I simply can't face dragging a tree about the place, getting all the decorations out of storage, a two-week battle with pine needles, dusting around all the stuff, endless cooking, buying, wrapping, the hideous environmental impact etc. etc. It strikes me that it is only the women who have to 'do' Christmas - everyone else gets to sit back and enjoy it. And then I hate myself for being so negative and not giving the children a wonderful dream Christmas like in the movies. Sigh. As I say, I'm struggling with the whole thing this year. No idea how it will all end up. But I am cheering you on for your excellent organising and being in the zone already. Have a lovely weekend. CJ xx

I am just so happy for you Meredith. Big fun lies ahead. You can relax a bit! once th tree went up, my mom said we were outta control. She always bemoaned the fact, kiddingly, that her birthday the 20th, was usually the day our break began. Days plus 6 children .....all riled up!

We all picked a person this year instead of all buying for everyone. My word, this came at the perfect year and I am loving it! I am blessed that my parents are together this Christmas and they can go to the manger together !

Like you, I find Christmas exhausting. It's hard to get excited when it feels burdensome. This year it felt like an interruption designed to set back my progress towards bigger life goals - physically and financially. I'm going to give more thought about how to change things in future to make it easier. I'm sorry this doesn't sound very Christmassy, but it's just the way it was this year. Also we didn't feel like celebrating because there were bushfires in the hills. Homes in Lobethal were lost and the Lobethal Lights festival cancelled. The nation is 'celebrating' New Year with fundraising and charity drives to support the victims and fire fighters.
