A little bit of a funk and a finish..............

I have been in a bit of a funk these past few weeks and am finding it hard to pull out of it.  Nothing serious just general fatigue.  I will not watch or read the news, that is not going to help me at all.  I am just tired, I know I sound like a broken record but it is more of the same.  Blogging, while I love it, takes up energy to write, post and connect, energy I am missing I am afraid.  It will get better, it always does. So if I am missing that is why.  Nothing serious, just life. But as you all know there is just so much time and energy in any day and mine seems to be getting used up before I can pop on this computer.

We did get a surprise visit from Mr. 22 and Luna the grand-dog this weekend.  Mr. 22's best friends grandmother passed this pass week and he was home from school for the services.  Mr. 22 popped in with Luna to go visit with his friend and to attend the service, and we got to grand-dog sit for the night.  Bear did much better with Luna this visit.  He actually rolled over and licked her face right after this photo.  As you can see Bear was very excited to see his big brother.  Is there anything better than a bit of big puppy love?

Yesterday was cold, windy and rainy here in Florida.  I once again declared it a pajama day for one little boy who is so sweet and cozy in his pj's.  We had a TV free day, and for once I did not have a private patient.  I made gluten free cookies sweetened with agave.  I cleaned up here and there, did some laundry and got a bag of things ready to donate.  Little Buddy and I sat at the kitchen table doing games and puzzles and of course Mr/Mrs Potato Head.  We watched the boys run around with Luna, playing until they were all exhausted.  We had a nice visit with Mr. 22 before he headed back to Orlando.  I was happy to see Mr. 26 feeling good, he had been very ill most of the week and even missed work for a few days which is not like him at all.  I rested, went to bed early and just tried to be quiet.  It is what I need after work, homework with Little Buddy and all the ridiculous things happening out in the real world.

I also had my first finish of the year which tells you something about my funk, usually I am on number two or three by now.   This is the Mezzaluna Wrap made with Lion Brand Hand Dyed Heaven.  I bought this a while back at my local Joann's store.  It is a lovely nylon blend that feels like cotton, but watch out if you steam block you might melt the yarn if your iron is too hot.  I used 2 1/2 skeins of this yarn so approximately 450 yards and I size H hook.  The border is something I made up on my own.  I made my first Mezzaluna way back in 2017, I wanted the border on this one to be different.  I plan to wear this more like a scarf.

I taught my good friend Joy how to knit many, many years ago.  She is an amazing artist, working mostly with pastels and watercolors.  Her work is so beautiful.  Knitting just never became her thing so recently she gave me this turquoise yarn when she was cleaning out all her knitting supplies.  I passed most of her things onto a friend but kept this yarn to make her something.  I tried to make another Mezzaluna yesterday but my brain was not working.  I started it over three times before I realized I should be doing something a lot more simple.  I started an Elise Shawl which I hope she will like.  It is such a simple yet beautiful pattern, one I have made many, many times.

And just in case you were missing Hank here he is.  The boys got haircuts last weekend so now they look a little funny.  They did not cut the hair on there head, but did so around their eyes so they look odd.  Well really Hank is just gorgeous in person but he does not look good in photos for some reason.  Last night he was exhausted from playing with Luna, he takes his job as an uncle very seriously.

Wishing you all a good week.  I promise to visit when I get my mojo back.  This morning I worked on a wonderful young man living with debilitating Lyme's disease, that took a bit out of my energy reserves so I am going to rest the rest of the day.  So sorry I have not been visiting.  You all mean so much to me and I feel a bit lost without connecting to you.  Hopefully I will be back on my game by next weekend.  Have a great week.

Good to hear your news Meredith. I wore my Elise Shawl today for a dog walk and I haven't worn it in over a year - funny that! Jo xxx

You endear yourself to your readers when you admit you're tired and just don't have anything to give right now. I have the perfect verse for you: "Stay home my heart and rest - Homekeeping hearts are happiest." - Henry W. Longfellow

Daily life can wear us out. I hope with plenty of rest you'll feel like your normal self soon. I only just realise now that your two dog boys are really big! It is the photos with your Mr 22 that made me realise. Somehow I always thought they were quite compact dogs. Silly me. Have a good week, hopefully not too hectic with work. x

Dearest Meredith, I think we're all suffering a bit from the lacklustre winter woes. I've been feeling a bit glum myself lately but get heartened by the bulbs beginning to show their healthy green shoots and my Snowdrops popping their little heads above the gravel, where I'd completely forgotten I'd planted them! Take heart, dear friend. This too shall pass.xxx

Love your shawl. Having just finished two very wonky Baby Yodas I know how hard all that is. You crochet folks amaze me.
I'm on a no news break myself. The constant outrage cycle was wearing me thin. I deleted Facebook a few years ago and it is now time to say adieu to Twitter as well. It's hard to accept the reality we live in at the moment but there it is. I hope this young generation has the courage they are going to need to right the ship. They better start paying attention.
I hope your Sunday was super!
I'm off to watch the Puppy Bowl.

Dear Meridith, I so much enjoy reading your blog. Love all your boys !!! And as a caregiver I respect your dedication to each and everyone of your clients. And, Little Buddy sure hit the jackpot when you came into his life. Your comments today really hit home with me. I read that a lot of us are experiencing heavy burdens as this new year begins and the reasons are so varied. However, the world affairs seem to be uppermost in so many thoughts. I am sending you lots of positive energy as you start to regain your heart filled journey.

February is the longest month of the year. Even though we have been having a mild winter, it still feels like a long slog to spring. Hope you find your mojo soon. (PJ day sounds like a *great* idea... maybe once a week!)

I too have been feeling sort of down. I too have to move away from reading/watching/listening to the news. I want to blog, but it is one more thing in a crammed full week. Hang in there. Rest. Enjoy the little things. I try to remember that. Sometimes it works better than other times. Hearts all around!! xoxo

You're such a dear friend and I do miss your visits to my blog and I miss seeing you blog more often.. but the bottom line is your health and happiness is the most important thing so I will wish you love and peace and recovery. I was down too.. after Friday's let down.. but every time I think something will happen to rescue our country from the orange menace and his devious lapdogs.. it falls through. Now to wait a year for the election. If that thing is re-elected.. I'm going to jump off a cliff. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Thank you for posting in spite of fatigue and funk. There are always these days in life, and I do hope you will soon recover energy and spunk! Your shawl is so pretty, and the turquoise yarn for the second is a rich and lovely colour. I hope you find or make time to rest and relax.

My dear sweet Meredith. Of course you are missed when you aren't here, but life happens. And my dear, your life is chock full of responsibilities. I don't know how you do it all. I've been in a strange funk too and I really don't know why. I'm not a crier and I've spent much of the past two days in tears. I know I'm missing our children and extended family. I'm tired of being in pain most of the time. Maybe that's it. Not saying any of it to get sympathy, just to let you know that you're not alone. My poor husband has been trying to figure out how to help. I'm not depressed really, just teary. :-)
I love all of your photos. In that last one of Hank, he looks so serious. What sweeties they all are.
Mere, I will keep you in my prayers even more. May God bless you with a calm heart and peace.
Much love and blessings,
Betsy

I foolishly got hopes up. dashed to the rocks. sea still stormy.
longing for a steady shore which is loathe to come.
realize that I have stayed in a waiting state for good news now for years.
it takes its toll on you. eventually that alone simply tries to do you in.
and when one works like YOU do. and LOVES like YOU do...
OF COURSE you get worn down and worn out!
we love you. and your family. don't spend precious time feeling ANY guilt about posting on this blog! the pictures are ALL always simply wonderful.
they show us once again what are the most important things in this crazy life!
love you Mere! XOXOXO
and I think Hank looks especially regal! until you see his sweet PUPPY FEET. LOLOL!!!

Sorry your oomph has temporarily deserted you, I know how that can be, and I hope it returns very soon. Hank looks gorgeous, and very smart with his hair cut. Bertie has a date with the groomer later on this month, but shhh, don't tell him. I'm glad you had some time at home with your little man. Look after yourself my friend. CJ xx

I totally understand. Your blog always makes me laugh. I love the photo of Mr. Potato Head with glasses. He and Buddy look so cute. The dogs, as always, are a hoot. I love your crocheted shawls, too. It is easy to feel overwhelmed these days. I've had a weird back spasm from some angry energy from a friend who vented at me. I hope you feel better soon. Have you tried eating more protein? That helps me.

I have been in a very quiet mood for the past couple of weeks or so. Having a cold for a week didn't help. And then there's been a whole lot of friends with deaths in their families which has left me very contemplative. I can't stand to watch the news. Very seldom is the good reported. Mostly it's just filled with pettiness, foolishness, divisiveness, death, destruction. Walking helps me feel more energized and creative. Your furboys are so cute ... and big! :) Big hugs to all. Take care.

I have been in quite a funk too and just feel so tired and unmotivated. So you're not alone. I'm glad to hear you had a bright spot in your week with your son visiting and just being able to stay at home and have a quiet day and get things done.

Hugs to you, Meredith. Take the time you need to recharge. I've been enjoying Facetiming and talking with my boys this week and it has been so good for me. Our priorities shift and we just have to go with it. xo

Hi Meredith,
We all have our highs and lows. I hope your low doesn't last too long but it sounds like you are doing the right things. I don't watch much tv news at all. I get most of my news from radio which spares me from graphic details. I need to protect myself from stress as much as possible!

Did you know that Lyme Disease is not recognised by the medical establishment in Australia? They are of the opinion that, because we don't have the same ticks here, the disease doesn't exist here. In this day and age of international travel, I find this outrageous!

Not to mention that there are a number of people in Australia who experience a 'Lyme-like' disorder and there is a school of thought that perhaps there is a similar organism in native ticks (not the same, but taking a similar role in the ecosystem). For the sake of those people, I hope there will be some broadening of minds and research into the Australian experience.

Any Australians who suspect they may be suffering Lyme disease have a battle to find a sympathetic physician and then blood tests need to be sent to the USA for lab work.

How lovely to have Mr 22 with you. My eldest is interstate and missed everyday. I hope your Mr 26 is feeling better soon and you too!

My blogging has been sidelined by 'life' too but will never be abandoned. I will keep checking in with you. Take it easy and enjoy the quieter moments with rest. xxx

Hope you feel better soon. Can certainly understand why you're staying clear of news if you're already down. It's a challenge listening, so I've taken to reading more. Not that the news is better that way; but it seems less in your face and gives me the ability to stay up to date in snipits on my time so I don't go crazy. That and knitting more has helped tremendously. Glad you had a nice visit and hope to see you soon.

I think there's something very regal about Hank's pose. I even thought he was wearing a bow tie at first glance. Hope things get better for you. If your winter has been anything like out winter, meaning every single day is gray and wet and rather depressing, it's no wonder you are feeling blah. Spring is right around the corner so hopefully everyone will be feeling better soon. Happy stitching!

Mere, I can relate as I've had trouble getting around to blogging also.
what a nice surprise to get an unexpected visit from your son! I always love seeing photos of LB, and really like your finished shawl. It's so pretty and the color is lovely. Valentine's Day is probably over in FLA, but I hope it was a nice one for you and your family. Hugs!
