My hiatus continues..................

Just when I was attempting to pull things together we had horrible news Thursday evening.  One of Mr. 26's very best friends was killed in California after being hit by a car.  He was 25, in and Navy and just a wonderful young man.  Mr. 26 was part of a group of four young men who knew each other since middle school, they swam together, lived very close to each other and although all went to different colleges they remained so close all these years.  It is a tragic loss for so many people, the young man's family, the three young friends left behind, and for the driver of that vehicle and their family, no one will ever be the same.  So I am continuing to stay off the grid here, I am just trying to be present for my son when he needs me.  To love him and hug and help him through this horrible loss.

Hug your kids, your grand kids and all of their friends.  Life changes so quickly.

Such sad news to read today. I can only imagine the pain your son and his friends are feeling right now. And I know the black, dark despair his family is experiencing. As a bereaved parent who survives on a daily basis with this unique grief, my heart goes out to all who are touched by this tragic death. There is an International support program for families who have experienced the death of a child, at any age, for any reason called "The Compassionate Friends" and all supports are offered at no charge. Here's the FB page for the US groups: https://www.facebook.com/TCFUSA/. I hope the family is able to access supports in time. And hope that your son and his friends and your family will be embraced and loved during this difficult time. Thinking of you today ....

I am so sorry to hear this. What a waste of a young life. You are so right. Life can change in an instant. I've been up since 5 waiting for Daughter's plane to land. You can't take anything for granted anymore.

Oh what horrible news for your son and his friends familly. Life does indeed change very quickly. I will be praying for them all and for you too. I know that your Mama's heart is hurting for your son right now. Oh to be able to return to the days when a kiss on the "boo-boo" made all hurts better. Grown up boo-boo's are so much more difficult if not impossible to kiss away.
Blessings, love and hugs,
Betsy

Oh dear.. I get so devastated when young people are cut down with their whole life ahead of them. It's just so tragic. You son and all of you are in my thoughts.. we're sending our love your way.. and a big virtual hug. Your Hibiscus is one of the prettiest I've ever seen. My red one has stopped blooming since I repotted it in a very large pot. :-(

So very sorry to hear about this tragedy, Meredith. This happened to one of my eldest boy's friends a couple of years ago and at his funeral, the boy's mother had them play 'Bring Him Home' from Les Mis, which was his favourite musical at that time. It was beyond sad. Being there for your boy is crucial. Mine just couldn't believe he would never see his friend again and found it very hard to come to terms with that.

such an unnecessary loss. it just doesn't make sense does it?
sending your son that magic that is pure love to help heal his heart. even from a stranger halfway across the country. it's the only thing that holds us all together on this planet of loss. bless you. xo

Big hugs and kisses to the dogs too. They sense our grief don't they? You know all the grief rules: no right or wrong way. First loss is hard on people in their 20s. So many ISCU NICU parents had never experienced even a grandparent dying, let alone a friend. It left them unequipped to take care of themselves at these times. You know that extra hard work outs helps get the adrenaline out of your body after trauma. .
I don't have any other words. I love you and your whole family. Im here like the rest of your blog pals,....anytime.

Sorry about your son's friend. I know that it is awful to lose a school friend. A few years ago my twin sister and I lost a friend from cancer. We knew her since Junior High. May your son's friend rest in peace.

I am so, so sorry to read this tragic news. Your son is going to need a lot of love and support. You're such a wonderful mama. I know too sadly how quickly life can change and that we never know what tomorrow will bring, as I too, have lost a child/young adult. Every day that we wake up and our loved ones are still with us is a blessing that we should never take for granted. Sending you and your son much love and a big hug.
