Making the best of a long weekend with Little B.........

I am making the best of a long weekend with my Little Buddy.  Dad is away and we are having all sorts of fun.  It has been a tough week, lots and lots going on with my world that I don't have the energy to discuss.  So instead I am going to focus on this sweet boy of mine.  Hooray, Ms. Frances his assistant returned to work on Thursday.  I think they are both a bit in love with each other.  She missed him as much as he missed her.  His Language Arts teacher is now out with Covid but should be back mid week.  He is not that close to her in the classroom so we are good to go as far as no quarantining needed.

Friday night we baked a cake.  A box mix and icing in a container, still Little Buddy loves vanilla cake and frosting.  Not a sprinkle can be near it, it has to be plain, plain, plain.  I don't eat cake but it looks like it was good stuff!

Friday night was a sleepover in Mom's big bed.  He is a restless one, and often murmurs when he sleeps.  I guess that brain can't turn off even at night. Why he still thinks this is special at the age of 10 I don't know, but as long as he does we will make it happen.

Saturday was completing a book report and math work sheets.  Not fun but we had to get it done.  Also lots and lots of time in the pool measuring and paddling around.

Today was the splash park with a friend from PT.   We met them at 9:00 and they played for 90 minutes.  She has a little brother that was fun as well.  Little Buddy does not get asked over by friends, I think parents are afraid of him.  He looks fragile, he isn't, but he is a bit different and they are not used to that. Tina receives OT while Little Buddy receives PT.  They are often working together and Little Buddy just loves her.  Her Mom asked if we could get the kids together soon to play at a park.  I sent her a text and it happened!  They were both so excited, she hugged him three times.  I was just thrilled he had a friend to play with and for once was not stuck with just me.

After the splash park, pool time, and a visit from our old nanny Terri , it is time for the iPad.  This is his favorite iPad pose.  He has played with his hinny up in the air since he was very little.  It could be cars, trucks, reading a book, or his iPad.  This is my favorite play position.

Luna, my granddog is also here for the weekend as her parents went to Orlando for the night.  They are studying a lot this weekend as well so she will have much more fun here with us and the boys.

So that is it.  A difficult week for me and so many out there with the hurricane, fires, and the news.  Well it has added up to just getting the best of me.  I am taking a mental health break and will be reading all of your blogs as soon as I can.

Stay safe and healthy my friends.

School for us starts on Tuesday or Wednesday or has started already. . .depending on what district you live in and if it is a private or public school. I had hoped that with the increasing hospitalizations here, the kids would be online . . . .doesn't look like that will happen. I'm sorry you have continued trials as well. Who would have throught that 18 months later, we would still have a COVID mess. Little Buddy looks like he had a terrific time. How wonderful to have been invited to play with a friend!! What a blessing for all! Friends are important! I hope next week will be better for all!

Hi Mere! I'm always so happy to read your updates on LB. This week I'm rejoicing about his playdate.
I watch very, very little news. I just can't deal with it anymore. Although I have always tried to keep up on the news it's just a bit too depressing for me anymore.
I honestly don't know how you kept up with two BIG puppies. This little 2.4 pounder has kept me on my toes trying to housetrain her. Brad said "yes" so I took Piper Friday night and picked up her sister for them. So yesterday and today we had TWO 2.4 pounders at our house because they already had plans they couldn't get out of. Oh my goodness! It was so fun to have both of them playing together and I think it's made leaving the litter much easier for them.
Mere, I'm going to continue to pray for you and whatever trials you're dealing with right now. Life is difficult for so many. We're looking at the fact that Dennis will be losing his job in the next month or two. The company is being sold as a victim of Covid. Since most of their business was international, being unable to travel has hit hard. He's 66 so can technically retire but wanted to keep going until 67 & 4 months for full retirement. I also won't have any health insurance as I'm only 61. It's going to be difficult to get anything that will pay. So much for plans, right? Just when you think you have plans made, a curve ball gets thrown.
Wishing and praying for a peaceful week for you my dear friend.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy

Dear Meredith, I'm so sorry everything is getting on top of you at the moment. I had a few days like that last week where I just hit a wall and really struggled for a while. It has passed now. I love that Little Buddy has a little chum to play with. You always take him to such fun places. Hope it's a good day for you today. Look after yourself my friend, and don't take on too much of the burden of the world news on your shoulders, I know how that can pull a person down. Sending all the hugs. Last day of the summer holidays here, then school tomorrow. Some people are just getting around to their homework... CJ xx

Great start to your weekend--looks like a happy boy sure helps the mix. My husband worked shift work and my kids enjoyed a turn in my bed on Friday nights like that, too, until they told me they were ok w/o it--12-14 depending on the boy! Enjoy him.

I completely understand when a week gets you down. We've just had one of those and are still under it. Certainly the world deserves a break pretty soon.

I'm with LB--I prefer plain cake, too. Not a fan of a lot of sprinkles and all that falderal. Cake, frosting, a bowl, and a spoon or fork. If I can eat it while cuddling up with a blanket, even better.

Here's hoping for more Gentle Times ahead. Take care.

I'm glad LB enjoyed frosting the cake. I love chocolate cake! I make my own cakes and icing. So thankful LB had fun while playing in water. Doggies are so adorable. I saw some dogs on the beach at Homer Spit, AK and even took a photo of them. Hope you have a good labor day weekend in spite of sadness in life. There's always something to in your day that is good for you that makes you feel blessed and happy. ☺Hugs and prayers Mere!πŸ’œπŸ™πŸŒΉπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

That looks like a wonderful weekend for that special boy! That cake looks fantastic. I used to be a big fan of chocolate cake, but now I love plain white with plain white icing - classic!

How wonderful that Little Buddy has a wee pal to play with. Friends are so important. Shame on those parents that are not having him over to play with their little ones because he is different. This makes me really angry. I don't remember my disabled brother having this experience when he was little but it was a long time ago and I may not remember, or my parents shielded me from this. Little Buddy looks like he is having the best time ever! The water park looks fun. A sleepover with mum is always fun. My two older children loved sleepovers with me, too. My younger two not so much. When they were in foster care they were not allowed in the foster parents bedroom and it took them a long time to get used to coming into ours after they came to live with us. So no early childhood cuddles in bed, which is probably why they never wanted sleepovers with me. Have a lovely week my friend xx

Very glad for you that LB has settled down and is happier now his school attendant is back. It is great he has a friend to play with too that is so important. I wonder if those parents realise just how much their children are missing not having LB for a friend. They would learn so much and their childrens' social skills would benefit enormously, come to that so would those parents'. There are lots of "different" people in our world and we have to learn to get on with /understand them all! As an after thought I would say it is their loss that they don't get to know little Buddy! You take all the time you need dear blogfriend as far as I am concerned there is no hurry to see my posts or too comment. Take care Amanda x
