What a wonderful day................

Hello my friends.  Did you make it through the day yesterday?  We did and really it was very nice, busy but nice.

Every Christmas Eve Little Buddy sleeps in our room so he doesn't disturb Santa when he comes down the chimney.  It is a tradition we started with my older kids although for some reason Mr 26 and Mr 22 declined the offer the last few years.  We bring his mattress into our room and he sleeps snug as a bug until about 6:30 and wakes me up.  He drinks milk while I drink tea,  we snuggle and watch Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer together, chat and snuggle some more until two older brothers wake up and come down to join us.  There is a strict rule here everyone must be downstairs and ready to go by 9!

Santa presents are opened along with stockings then we eat breakfast.  After breakfast clean up it is back to opening presents from the family.  Lots of fun was had by all especially from one little boy who got his Peppa Pig House from Santa and lots of other Peppa Pig toys from Mom and Dad.

Little Buddy also got the whole Judy Moody Book series and the first Magic Tree House series.  We are big readers and now so is he.  My favorite time of the day is snuggling at night in the rocking chair as her reads before bed.

A friend dropped off this train for Little Buddy on Tuesday, apparently Santa left it at her house by mistake!  It was nice for him to have something new to play with before the big day.

Today we went to Physical Therapy and then drove to see a friend of ours who is down in the area from North Carolina.  This is Linda, she is best friends with my best friend Lynda.  Yes, the two Linda's!  We met her and her step daughter for a quick lunch and had a wonderful time visiting.

Now back to work tomorrow, to be honest I am not ready.  I am enjoying these three days off and finally today I feel like I can breath again after all the hectic preparation, wrapping, shopping and decorating.  I can finally relax, well that is until this weekend when it all comes down and gets put away, ready for a clean start to the New Year.

How was your holiday?

Adorable little man, I'm glad you had a lovely day all together. His presents look brilliant. I know what you mean about not being ready and needing a bit more relaxation. I hope it's an easy day and that you have the weekend at home again. CJ xx

I'm glad you are enjoying good times in the midst of the hectic preparations. On Christmas Eve I got to attend a candlelight service and sing familiar loved carols and surprisingly watch video clips of Charlie Brown's Christmas. We were challenged to watch and see what Linus did with his security blanket while he recited part of the Nativity story from Luke! Encouraging. Christmas morning was strangely quiet for me on my own, but I texted and spoke on the phone with loved ones throughout the day and shared a roast beef dinner with two adult children, and we completed two puzzles with some Christmas movies on in the background.

Your Christmas looks like it was a wonderful one Meredith. There is just something about having a child in the house that makes everything magical. We went to Christmas Eve service and then to Jeremy and Alicia's home up on the mountain for appetizers. We woke up on Christmas morning to an unpredicted snowfall so we had a white Christmas after all. In the afternoon we went to see the Mr. Rogers movie with friends. We've never gone to a movie on Christmas before and I was amazed that all 20 theaters in the complex were sold out! I never knew going to a movie was a "thing" people do on Christmas.
Piper face-timed this afternoon to read me a book. Our family are all huge readers too and I love to see that passed on to the grandchildren who also love books. They all got lots of books as gifts this year. We bought all of our kids books too and they bought them for us!
Dennis had to go back to work today and he said it was really hard. I took the tree down and started packing away decorations. I have to do them a few at a time because of my back, but I like the house back to normal before the new year comes.
Wishing you a relaxing weekend my dear Meredith.
Blessings,
Betsy

It was our best Christmas in a while. And yours looked happy and joyous as well. Isn't the Post-Christmas Glow a special kind of Happiness?

Your Christmas sounded like a delight! There's nothing like the excitement of kids on Christmas day. This Christmas was very different for us...we were alone for the first time in 31 years. We've been without Phil for 11 Christmas's now and Tim moved to CA last month. We had a quiet morning with a few presents and our traditional breakfast casserole, then my mom came over later and we ordered pizza. After she left, we video-chatted with Tim and opened our presents to each other over video. I started taking down all the Christmas decor last night and am finishing up today. I'm glad to be done with the holiday.

I love your Christmas Eve sleeping tradition. My kids would have loved that. They were just saying they never slept at all on Christmas Eve when they were kids. They were too excited.

Merry Christmas sounds like everyone had a great day! We open early in the morning then the rest of the day is play for everyone but me while I work in the kitchen. Offers of help are made but I can do it faster by myself, ha ha ha.

Glad you had a nice Christmas. Little Buddy received a lot of fun gifts. He must be right on top of Santa's good little boys list. I enjoyed reading about the traditions you have with your family. We had a nice Christmas. Santa was good to us.

I really enjoyed reading about your Christmas and it sounds like such a good time had by all. That Peppa pig house looks like so much fun to play with, I am sure Buddy will spend a lot of time with it. Merry Christmas!

Looks like a fun day for your family. Just 3 of us. Yummy food. Wrapped lots
of gifts Sunday late afternoon after a long nap...longer than expected. Cheaper than gift bags. Most went to grandkids and parents. Better to give than receive. Happy New Year and keep your stitches going on those hooks or needles my friend!!:-}

It's nice to have traditions especially when a child is involved. Makes the time all the more special. Around here, with the boys far away, it was just another day in paradise. :) I didn't even decorate. But this coming year is coming to be a time of focus, following through and finishing. Wish me luck! Ha! Hope you are enjoying a nice weekend.
