On Valentine's Day....................

Happy Valentines Day for those of you in the mood to celebrate a bit.  With so much still going on in the world it seems a bit silly to celebrate something that feels a bit frivolous this year.  With so many ill, so many losing loved ones, so many worried about people they love that are hurting or ill.  With the continued ridiculous politics here in the US and the spineless hypocrites who have done even more damage to our country by not voting to impeach our former president, not that we expected anything less, well life seems a bit overwhelming doesn't it?

Still it is nice to take a deep breath and to just pause and think of something nice, even for a few minutes.   So here is a little love from one very special boy who finished a project on Neil Armstrong and a book report this weekend, that is something to be grateful for! And yes his shirt says, "My Mom is my hero."  Wonder who got that for him?

After a very tough week at school for Little Buddy including two long emails from his teachers about his behavior and lack of work, four extra hours of work on Wednesday because he did not work in school, and a record five apology notes written, two to friends for ramming them with his walker and three to teachers for not listening, well this was the exact card I needed to see.  I bet he wanted to write, "My Mom is mean," because he tells me that a lot, but his teachers would never allow it.  He also tells me I am not going to be part of the  family anymore if I am not nice!  Oh Lord, give me strength. I love the last sentence the best, apparently I must say, "no" a lot! And I do have to question the, "cutie" thing, one thing I am not is a cutie.

This giant grey blob is the Greyscale Poncho by Jess Compton.  It really kind of is a big blob but it is a big blob you want to wear when it is chilly out.  Or at least I think I will because it is currently pretty warm and humid out here in Florida.  Made with about 930 yards of Lion Brand Touch of Alpaca in the color Oxford Grey.  I used a size M hook to make this, and believe me I seemed to have trouble with this super basic pattern because I had to start it over several times.  I think my brain is just on super overload right now and can't handle even the simplest project.  In big news I just ordered yarn to knit a sweater, yup, I actually said the word knit.  This is Mereknits after all even though Mere rarely knits these days.

The boys had a Valentines bath today out by my pool this morning.  They are currently looking all forlorn outside my window.  They never seem to understand they need to be out there a while to dry.

And if you made it this far this is your laugh for the week.  When Little Buddy wore his 100 day of school shirt his teacher took photos of the kids and put a filter on it to make them look 100 years old.  He looks so funny!

Stay safe and have a wonderful week.

I know the world is mad at the minute but it's the little things that make it bearable, Little Buddies smile would melt your heart looking at that little face who would think that he could be naughty haha and his Mon is certainly a superhero! The poncho looks cosy, soft and warm. I'm looking forward to seeing your sweater in progress. Happy Valentines Day Meredith and have a good week. xx

I think it's when the world is at its most crazy, you need to take time to celebrate frivolous things, even if it's only in small ways.
Lil' Buddy is as handsome as ever, even if he's having a bad week. And you know I love those puppers!
Happy Valentine's day!

I just cannot imagine that sweet smiling boy causing so much havoc at school and at home! Ha! Hey, I've raised two boys! They can be a handful can't they? We all love your little one. That valentine would melt anyone's heart. And your fur boys are the sweetest too. Look at those innocent faces.
Meredith, that ponco is wonderful. I love it. It makes me want to make one for myself and I rarely wear the one I have made already.
Happy Valentine's Day Mere! I hope it's a wonderful one for you. We have to celebrate being here and loving those we love while we can.
Blessings,
Betsy

Little Buddy will make an adorable 100 year old! Sorry for the bad week - these things happen, sigh. The school note is adorable. Have a much better week!

Your little man wrote a very sweet note to you, you should frame it! I have a mother's day art piece that my son Travis made when he was about LBs age and it's framed and the first thing I see each morning and the last thing I see before sleep. They took the balloon out of his heart today and this evening brought him out of his coma and he is talking and alert! Hallelujah!

((hugs)), Teresa :-)

PS - Your wrap is very chic, bravo!!

Oh that's so funny, now you know what Little Buddy will look like when he's 100 even if you're not around to see it. Love the card and I agree, we all love it when people say YES!

I am not a big follower of Valentine's Day but I enjoyed sharing a box of chocolates with my family. I am convinced that Mr Trump would have been convicted had their been hidden voting. He has created a culture of fear in the Republican Party.

Poor Little Buddy, he seems to be having a hard time at school. I am sure he is doing his best. Listening is hard at best of times! Sometimes it is easier to express feelings of frustration with aggression rather than trying to articulate with big words. I see this with my own boys. I don't condone aggression of course but I do understand where it comes from. It is hard to learn how to express frustration without lashing out. I am sorry you are having to deal with this, on top of everything else. This must be so difficult. Sending you lots of virtual hugs.

no matter what the challenges your little B is a ray of sunshine for us. You should frame that Valentine and look at it daily :) He is adorable.

Oh, I love that poncho! If only I crocheted, that would be something I'd make for myself. It's perfect. I'd get a great deal of use out of that.

It sounds like LB had a rough week at school and spread it around a little. I'm sure we all know what that feels like ourselves. Frustration is often Not Pretty (or nice)!

I'm confident you'll remain part of your family, regardless. LOL

thank you for this needed post. I watched the proceedings. I can't even bring myself to mention the cowardice. so... we may well have to relive the last four years again? in some criminal courts he (as a private citizen) should/could be charged with manslaughter.
and I LOVE your grey blog poncho!!! you do fantastic work. it's below zero temps here with snow. I would be wearing it right NOW! XOXOXO

Oh, I really love that poncho! I have one languishing in the UFO pile. One of my keepsakes is a Mother's Day placemat that my daughter made me, using the letters in "mother" to describe me; M was for MEAN. And LB looks great as an old man!

Who would have thought! Little buddy looks so adorable holding the heart wreath and also even converted into an old chap :-) I am sad to hear he has been naughty but then that is all part of the learning process, isn't it? If he was an angel all the time I feel sure you would worry something wasn't right. So very glad though he loves his Mama and shows it! Adore those two fur boys! Are they really grinning? keep well Amanda x

LB is lucky to have you as his mom, and knows it as he showed in his note. That note is worth saving! Our Valentine surprise was a foot of snow! It's melting now but was pretty while it lasted. Hugs to you!

So much life to enjoy! I love LB's Valentine's note to you.
My son went through a biting phase. We would go buy a toy and give it to the victim. That was quite painful for Seth, but he eventually stopped.

Lord have mercy!!!!!......the teen years approach thee!!!! lol I'm laughing with you not at you. Some of the things tween and teens say just crack you up. Have strength my friend. I remember all those words from my own sons. I remember one of them deciding to leave home at the tender age of 11 because I was mean. He just needed to pack his clothes and oh.....he hasn't finished packing yet. He's almost 24 and still here. lol Let's hope for a better year and that this covid problem comes to a halt at sometime soon. Sending you big hugs and kisses from across the oceans and seas. xxxx
