Little Buddy continues to work on his bed making skills. It is only a Saturday or Sunday activity due to time, but seeing as this is the start of his spring break we might get to practice a lot. He usually needs a bit of help on the far side of the bed but he is trying and that is a big deal. He has had a better week at school. After an appointment with Neurology on Monday we have started yet another medication. I am not for over medicating but with a very mixed up brain, lots of brain damage and exposure to lots of drugs and alcohol before he is born, well that makes you take a whole different approach. If he needs it I will try to do what I can to make his life a bit easier for him and for all of us as well.
I ordered new crutches for my guy because he is growing and his were not able to expand anymore. He picked black because it doesn't show dirt. I think my cleaning issues might be rubbing off on him. He looks so big!
Yes Bear was also happy but he was not being photogenic during his petting time. He kept turning away from the camera so this is the best you get this week.
In other super amazing news I got my first vaccine dose this past Monday. Florida was opening up to teachers over 50, school employees over 50 and everyone 60 and above this week. They were putting doses for healthcare providers aside so I went online on Sunday and got an appointment the next day. It fit in after Little Buddy's neurology appointment and although it was 45 minutes away from me it was worth it. From the start of the car line, into the parking lot, getting the shot and a 15 minutes wait, took a total of one hour. But it was one of the best hours of my life. It was an amazing feeling to know that it is a step forward toward my health but also the health of our whole country. I would not go before this even though I qualified as a healthcare professional, I did not want to take the place of someone in dire need. But now many of those individuals have had at least one dose so I did not feel like I was jumping in line. It was a tremendous feeling, now to wait just over two more weeks before shot number two.
Stay safe my friends. I am out of here because there are cookies to make, raking and weeding to get done and all sorts of outside clean up. And there just might be some knitting!

Little Buddy looks so proud of his bed making skills. Heck, even I have a hard time getting bedding to look nice on the side where the bed meets up against the wall! (As in our guest room bed.) And yes, he is growing like a weed. He looks so tall now. Hope you're having a good weekend!
Excellent bed making, that's a very good job. And so happy you have received a dose of vaccine, this is good news indeed. Cookie making here as well today, and a little garden tidying and some work.

Congrats on getting your first dose of the vaccine. The Mister gets his first on Tuesday but I am still waiting for my call from the Health Department.

Good job, young man! Your room looks very tidy and fun. The new crutches look good and sturdy and very manly and should be good for many years now. I loved seeing both fur boys. I'm happy that you got your first shot.. same here.. next shot in a week and a half. Then.. whew!! Those bed making skills are awesome. I would have a hard time with the far side too and he's just a little guy. His new crutches are perfect and make him look very grown-up. Don't know how I feel about that. I remember when he was just a little guy.

Mere, we are on the same vaccine schedule. I got my first dose of Pfizer on the same day you did and get my second dose on the 29th too! We're vaccine sisters! :-)

Well done to Little Buddy I think his bedmaking skills are very good, I could never get my kids to make their beds when they were at home, I'm pleased he's had a better week and I hope that the new medication helps him. Those crutches' are really smart and he's right haha they won't show the dirt.. Those fur boys are adorable, enjoy your Sunday never mind the about the outside cleaning, sit yourself down put your feet up and do a bit of knitting!xx

Meredith, I am trying to catch up with some friends this morning. I am enjoying my new apartment. Little Buddy has grown so much and so fast. God has special places for people like you and it can be a little heartbreaking at times, but remember all of the good things that you have done. I admire what you are doing and have done to give Little Buddy a better life. I love seeing your knitting.

I understand your reluctance to use medication for a young child. It's a difficult choice, but if you have trust in and a good relationship with the doctor, that makes a big difference. I know you make careful decisions for your children, as would we all.

I started medicating Seth when he was kindergarten. Lots of people judged me. Now he's a veterinarian. I don't that would have happened if I had let negative neural pathways become entrenched.
You should have gotten vaccinated earlier! You work directly with children and go in people's house. I'm really glad you finally got your first dose. I had to drive 45 minutes for mine, too. Totally worth it!

Little Buddy is doing a great job with the bed making. Awww, Hank is definitely smiling, it's funny how we can tell when they're happy. I've got an appointment for the vaccine on Saturday, I'm 52 and wasn't expecting it yet but they seem to be forging ahead with the vaccination programme here.
Little Buddy just makes me smile! Such a wonderful boy, I admire him to the moon and back! Tell Little Buddy I too have trouble with the far side of beds when making them up and it gets harder as I age!
So happy to hear you got your first vaccine shot. I had my first a week ago and proceeded to experience several side affects that lasted 4-5 days, even with the side affects it is worth it. I can see the light getting bigger at the end of the tunnel. My husband is fully vaccinated.

My coutry has fallen behind on vaccinations.
The State Governments and Federal Government are squabbling.
The Federal Government is in charge of nursing homes and had a mandate to vaccinate every nursing home resident but we have the silly state of affairs where nursing home staff are not fully vaccinated. Meanwhile the States have prioritised health care and 'frontline' workers to be vaccinated first in a tiered system - these are people who work in State Healthcare systems like hospitals and GP clinics etc.
The problem is that the States aren't having enough vaccine delivered to them and blaming the 'Feds'; the Federal Government is blaming the States for being too slow and not meeting its targets. Complicating this, vaccines ordered from Europe haven't been delivered - one bundle allegedly went missing and then Europe withheld the order because they wanted to keep it for themselves despite Australia allegedly having ordered it well in advance.
The Federal Government had a target of delivering at least 4 million doses of vaccine by the end of March and they have only done 670,400.
I am in the second phase of the rollout (1B - for those with underlying health conditions and disability support workers and carers and other healthcare workers) but my local clinic isn't offering vaccination for multiple reasons. I need to go to a different clinic which will be offering vaccination but hasn't had it delivered yet so they are only putting names on a register. I dare say they will give priority to their own clientele before jabbing people from other medical practices which sort of messes up the planned order of who gets the jab when.
All that story to say that I am SO PLEASED that you are able to be vaccinated so soon!
Meanwhile it drags out in Australia and people are getting falsely confident - social distancing has gone out the window despite the fact that infectious cases are still coming into the country every day and we still have covid outbreaks on a regular basis. People have put their faith into contact tracing systems but that will not prevent one from becoming infected if one is in the wrong place at the wrong time. Like you, I am staying away from crowds and public places as much as possible.
I hope you don't mind the big message but it has been a while (trying to return to blogland) and I thought you may be interested in the experience elsewhere.
