Highlights from a long week..........

It has been a long week my friends.  Lots of work, lots of homework from one little boy who decided to not do his work in school and some uncomfortable doctor appointments have left me all a bit weary.  Today I have taken it as easy as I can.  And I thought I would think about a few highlights to my week.

A new preemie to evaluate, she is soooooo tiny, born at just 25 weeks gestation, but is now in the best care at one of my wonderful medical foster homes. She has a great chance of doing well with lots of love and therapy, too!

A compliment from the family of one of my very involved little babies, they see a difference in her critically involved posture from the therapy she is receiving.  That is the best news I can hear!

A little boy who made a cake with my friend Lynda yesterday as we made a visit up to see her after school.  It is a bit of a drive but well worth it even if he was out of sorts by the time we got home.

I sat by the beautiful Spring Bayou in Tarpon Springs, Florida and knit this morning while little one was at his social gardening club.  It was bliss just to put a few rows onto my new sweater while listening to an audiobook.

Good behavior colors at school for Little Buddy this week, I guess he was nice but just wouldn't do his work..................sigh.

Rain, I am thankful for a beautiful rain storm this afternoon after Little Buddy got out of the pool. We have been so dry here, seems like it has been so long since we had a nice afternoon storm.  My newly planted flowers that were planted last weekend have been looking very parched. I love rain, the smell, the sound, and oh my give me some thunder and I am in Heaven.

The boys have not had a good weekend.  Yesterday was a visit to the vet for shots and blood work and today the groomers.  They hate the car, I mean completely detest it.  They shake and drool, it really is embarrassing.  Then to be taken into the vets without Mom, and to be dropped off at the groomers.  How much can they possibly take?

After all the trauma and drama they are home and exhausted from all they have been through.  Look at those smiles, I love them to pieces.  It is so quiet at my house when they are not here.  Quiet and so sad!

And after a bit of knitting this morning I got in some more this afternoon while Little Buddy was in the pool.  I am making another Harebell sweater.  This is new yarn from Berroco called Summer Sesame.  It is gorgeous and I am loving not having to worry about silk fluff everywhere like with my last sweater.  I just got to the point where the sleeves have been placed on extra yarn and now I am working on the body.  I love this pattern so much.  This sweater will be super light weight, just perfect for Florida.

Hope you have all had a wonderful week.  Stay safe my friends.

Despite the long week you have lots of wonderful highlights. The sweater is beautiful, love the yarn. I do so wish I could sit with you, knit and chat in Florida we could do with a bit of sun. Still to many travel restrictions sadly. Have a good week.

Busy week indeed. How I envy you your swimming pool, though the weather here this week has been back to zero temps some nights. Sunny days though but the windchill means still wrapping up warm outdoors. I love your new yarn which is knitting up beautifully. Glad the doggies survived their traumatic day and they look so handsome for all that. Great work on those little babies. Hope they go from strength to strength. Happy week to you Meredith.xxx

What a busy week! I had to laugh at your two boys in the car all huddled up in fear and then to see them showing off their new haircuts so proudly. What a pair!

I'm just catching up on all your blog posts. You have been busy as usual. I love the cardigan you knitted. Our vets haven't reopened except for emergencies. I have phoned them a couple of times, but apparently an elderly cat whose claws are so badly overgrown that she can barely walk isn't an emergency. Animal welfare doesn't get a mention during this pandemic.

Gorgeous yarn, I need to investigate that. Bertie is the same with the groomer and the vet, although we usually walk there, so I end up having to carry him the last 100 yards. Put my back out last time. I was just talking to someone this morning about a baby who was born at 22 weeks and who is doing well and will be coming home soon. It is honestly a miracle, absolutely amazing. Lovely that your work has made a difference in a little one's life. I am sure it very often does, even if you are not always told. It's been dry here as well, although there was some rain yesterday. Hoping you have a good week, CJ xx

Poor pups! Do they get a bit carsick? I know some dogs just get motion sickness no matter what in the car. I'm glad they made it through their terrible ordeal with their smiles intact once they got home.

Your friend Lynda is a treasure.

I'm reallly liking your new sweater. That yarn is lovely in both texture and colourway. It will make yet another pretty garment for you.

Oh those poor pups - they look so sad in the car! My cats feel their pain!
I hope this week is a little easier on you.

I'm very sorry you had a stressful stretch of days. Take comfort in the quiet, in your knitting, and in the knowledge that we are all out here backing you up.

I've long said that if I could only knit patterns from one source, it would be Berroco. If I could only knit one brand of yarn, it would be Noro. This Harebell looks like a combination of the two.

The bakers look very skilled and like they are happy in a kitchen. I'm so glad you got some time for the new Berroco yarn.
Maybe this week, Lil B , will be able to handle things better. He is so loved.
And the new premie making progress...that makes my heart happy!

So funny about dogs and cars. On rare occasions when my old lab went out the front door, we would say, "Oh! Want to go for a ride in the car?" and she would immediately turn around and come back into the house.
Happy spring!

Even though it was a long week, you had some nice highlights. Little Buddy looks like he's having a great time baking with your friend. Poor doggies being "tortured" by the vet and groomers. ;-) My cats are the same way going to the vet and they both hate the car. My male cat had to go to the vet the other day for a wellness exam and basic blood tests and he was so exhausted when he got home from the stress, that he just stretched out on the living room floor and didn't move for a long time.

A new week is coming up...hope it goes well!

Your little guy seemed so serious and interested in the cake baking process. It's wonderful that your friend has patience and love for a certain little boy which gives Mom a bit of a break. :-)
I laughed at your boys and their scared postures in the car and them smiling for us all when back at home, their favorite place in the world.
That sweater is so beautiful Meredith. The yarn is so pretty with the colors and the way they are knitting up. Great job.
Blessings,
Betsy

I'm glad to hear your patients are doing well.. but not surprised as you are such so skilled at what you do. It's so nice to get rain when things are dry. But we're famous for having too much of it here in Oregon. Our Mocha loves the vet and the groomer, it's kind of amazing. Give that little man of yours a high five from us here in Oregon. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Busy, busy as usual Mere! Poor fur boys! What a traumatic experience for them. I felt quite sad for them on reading your description of all that they have to put up with and hate doing. They do look so handsome though and much happier in the photo wearing their blue scarves. Little Buddy looks well into baking cakes with your friend. Very glad to hear Lil B got a good behaviour report from his school too. It is such a plus to get positive feedback from work ,isn't it? Love that yarn! Coincidently I love thunder storms too and the best place to watch them is on the sea front with the sea air and spray blowing in my face. Sensational! It just makes me feel that it is great to be alive! :-) keep well Amanda x

Kids who don't do their work in class and then want to meet individually with me -- this is my life! Especially during Covid, when I can't physically monitor them!
What good friend Linda is to be so patient with LB.
It is no surprise to me that your patients make progress!

I don't think I've ever heard of a dog that didn't want to go in the car! But oh, it's probably so good to have them back. And if I had to have a choice between "good" at school and getting work done, I think I'd take "good." I think so. I love the cake photo together -- that looks like fun. And good appointments with clients too. And finally -- that sweater -- fabulous! LOVE the colors adn teh pattern is lovely.

Wow, your sweater is gorgeous! I love the colors. That's interesting that the dogs don't like to ride in the car. I wonder why? They look so cute all groomed and with their blue scarves. I just brush Lula. She is crazy about the car...pushes me out the door to make sure she gets to go. I have to discipline her and make her wait.
