Saturday Morning Musings...................

Hello my friends, how are you?  Have you had a nice week?  This week has ben uneventful and still lots has happened if that makes any sense at all.  Little Buddy has finished his school year and did so with a great report card.  It has been a tough year in so many ways for him, and still at the end of the year his teachers did not understand his unique learning abilities, but we got through it and landed on a successful note.

We went to the beach on Friday morning as a treat even though he told me it is against the law to go to the beach when it isn't Saturday or Sunday.  I had to explain to him that those were the only days we were able to go because of school and gardening club, and that the beach is available everyday. Well almost that is.  We drove to our favorite north beach on Honeymoon Island in Dunedin Florida to find it was closed for refurbishing.  This beach has the easiest access for us.  So we drove to the main beach and got all of our things out and organized and while walking towards the beach saw this beautiful rainbow.  Two seconds later it started to rain and we just barely made it back to the car before the Heavens broke open.  We waited a bit but the rain looked like it was there to stay for a while so we drove home.  Not a fun way to celebrate no more third grade!

At home we got a haircut, after going to get one last weekend with Dad.  I swear they barely cut it and I had to do the whole thing over again.  Not my idea of fun.  After a shower and a shampoo we got to work decluttering Little Buddy's room and clothes, my clothes and some major rearranging of things in my bedroom.  I won't show you all the bags of things ready to donate but there are quite a few.  Good to get things done and Little Buddy now has some room in his room for potential birthday presents, he will be 10 in just a couple of weeks!

Later in the day we went up to visit my friend Lynda for dinner.  Her neighbor is a locksmith and he was able to unlock Little Buddy's bank that had been stuck because a certain boy I know had the door open and pushed a bunch of keys changing the passcode to something we did not know what it was.  He has been having fun counting his money and placing it in the slots for the vault all morning. Lets just say the Tooth Fairy has apparently been very nice to this boy.

I had my first Zoom conference on Wednesday.  I don't have a camera on my computer so I was a black screen at the top of the screen, like many I might add.  I also pretended my microphone wasn't working because I was knitting during the conference and frankly did not want to do the tedious group session with a screen that was black.  It was a great conference and I knit 3/4 of a sleeve on my sweater.  Still it made me laugh as those on the Zoom call who had their cameras on seemed to not mind we were all able to see their dirty countertops, or even one woman who was lifting weights during the conference.  Of course I was knitting but they didn't see me knitting!!!!!  I have to have 24 hours of continuing education every 2 years for my professional license and 12 of it has to be live.  18 more to go!

Today is a low key day.  I have a private patient and then the day is mine to putter around the house and continue to get things done here and there.  The boys are always at my side no matter where I am.

And just in case you missed it I will say it again, this precious boy of mine is going to be 10 soon, where has the time gone?  Those eyelashes and freckles, well you know how I feel about them, I could just eat him up!  We both need a break from all the stress of school.  He starts camp on Monday with the kids he goes to gardening club with.  It will be just enough to keep him busy but will be a break from all the school stress.  We will still do workbooks and will read to keep his brain active but we won't be stressing at all as we take a break and prepare for 4th grade.  Fourth grade, can you even imagine?

Have a wonderful weekend.

Congrats on finishing third grade!

Oh the stories I could tell about people on Zoom. My most recent is a student who came to "Zoom class" in her pajamas, in her bed, first reading messages on her phone and then she went back to sleep. All on camera!

Congrats to LB on finishing on such a high note! His haircut - and the lovely pups' - look so great. Hope you have a great and at least somewhat relaxing weekend and that LB enjoys his first week of camp.

Well done to Little Buddy for passing third grade wow ten years old already, where do the years go. He looks very cute with his new hair cut and I hope he enjoys camp next week it'll be great for you both to have a break from schoolwork. Good for you getting your knitting done on zoom, I always crochet while I'm on and I don't care who sees, I do have a camera but it's facing the ceiling more than it is me so you get a bit of my head🤣 I had a declutter of wardrobe too and I've decided I'm not going to buy anything else unless I know I'll wear it. Have a lovely weekend. Xx

Lots of gorgeous eyes and eyelashes in this post! I wish one day I could walk on a Floridian beach. It looks divine! Your Zoom stories are hilarious. I hope LB - soon to join the ranks of the 'bigger' boys!- has a spectacular birthday and he's a very lucky chappie, collecting all those greenbacks!! I've just come back from the clothes bank where I deposited two huge bags of things that will hopefully keep some folks warm this coming wintertime and another bag of bric-a-brac stuff that really need to begone from my house! That's just the tip of this particular iceberg, let me tell you. I'm aiming for minimalism! Have a great weekend, Meredith. Lots of love.xxx

That boys freckles are so cute.
He looks a tiny bit jaundiced in two of the picture.ss IM sure its just a lighting thing...

The dogs are adorable. And you mysterious Zoom lady, knitting is a great way to zoom.

Buddy looks so grown up with his new haircut!
I used to hate that continuing education thing. Spending my precious summers in the classroom was torture-not to mention the expense of it.

WOW!!! Almost 10 and ready for 4th grade...the years fly by! So glad you have a summer break from the school pressure. Your Zoom meetings have had some different entertaining aspects than mine :-) but my Wednesday morning Zoom knitting meetings with ladies from church have been a joy! ((hugs))

Too bad about the rain. I love Zoom, but I set up my location carefully before we start. It reminds me of the Jetsons. You are getting so much knitting done! I am doing the heel of my sock today.

Wonderful you and LB will now have a well earnt break from routine . Very well done Little Buddy that you have passed third grade with a good report! School is out and Summer fun begins. Over all these years I have thoroughly enjoyed hearing about LB and his progress , his cheekiness and his endearing antics. Time has flown by and amazingly he will be 10 very soon. I grinned when I read about your Zoom chats or meetings . I continue to give a couple of online classes a week and I can’t very well crochet when I give class but I do wear my PJ bottoms and my slippers! I do try to look respectable from head to waist though. One of my students comes to class in her dressing gown ! That actually doesn’t bother me at all because I know if she feels comfortable we will have a good class. The dogs look as if they are waiting for something to happen LOL! Keep well and have fun. Sounds liek you had a good week. It's hard to believe that LB just finished 3rd grade! Boy, how time does flY (except when you're living it!) Last night we attended a very nice reunion/farwell with some former workmates, one of home is moving back home to IL. The rest of the week was kind of sad as we learned of a friend in hospice, and an upcoming divorce of one of our nephews.

I cannot imagine him being TEN! That must mean it is SEVEN years since we got together. :::sigh:::

Can we talk about those eyelashes. What I wouldn't have done to get lashes like that when I was a teen. LOL

Wishing you a beautiful and restful weekend.

I pretty much did what you did today. Major cleaning of the living room (how does one cat shed so much FUR and not be bald!!!???) and organizing my craft closets. A little bit of old cross stitch supplies went to the Mennonite Thrift store. I KNOW someone will love the patterns more than I do.

It felt GOOD to pass things on and have a tidy workspace.

Almost 10, oh my, years fly by and grade 4.
Your knitting looks good and would have loved to do meetings like that lol
Buddy's hair looks good too. And your pups have such sweet faces.

LB is adorable and thankful he made it through 3rd grade. I don't understand why teachers don't know how to get a child like him through a school year. I am still working on my prayer shawl. I like your sweater! I went thru a few bags and found so much yarn to use. I need to get shawl done so I can make more items, for me and friends. Have a good weekend!

Forgot to mention that your President is on these shores as we speak and I have to say is lending some serious grace and charm to the G7 Summit, especially compared to po-faced Merkel and arrogant little Macron!

Congratulations to the little man for getting through 3rd grade and doing so well. He has the most gorgeous eyes and lashes, such an adorable little chap. Hope summer camp goes well and that you both get a well earned break. Take care.

Sorry you missed out on the beach, but that top photo is gorgeous, those colours! Hurray for a good report card, I know how hard that little man has worked, it is very well deserved. And well done on all the clearing and decluttering. I am absolutely swamped with work here and it is getting to me a bit not having time to do anything much at all except for a quick pass through Blogland over breakfast. Hopefully things will slacken off a bit in a month or two though, although it's good to have the work. Hope you have a lovely Sunday. CJ xx

Oh my goodness, 10, where have those years gone? I'm glad he finished school with a good report card, I know how challenging it's been at some points this year but it does all work out in the end. The photo of the beach is just beautiful.

Way to go Little B on finishing up third grade with a bang. So hard to believe he's going to be 10! Every time I go to get a haircut, they never, ever cut enough off. It's like they don't believe that I really want to go shorter. You did a good job on his hair, perfect for summer. Sorry to hear the beach outing didn't quite work out but sounds like you accomplished a lot anyways. Take care.

Digging, digging, digging the haircut, LB!

Was your whole sweater knit on DPNs? I absolutely cannot use them, so am always envious of those who can.

Speaking of envy, and covetousness, what a gorgeous beach view.

Oh my! 10 years old? I can't believe it. It seems like he was 7 just a little time ago.
I too have to do hours and hours of professional development. Some of it is useful, some of it is absolutely not. I feel your pain!

Oh, those zoom meetings! Seeing someone eat a sub up close and personal is not a pretty sight. LB is getting to be a BB - big buddy - now. Lots of changes in my 10-year-old granddaughter this past year, mostly for the better. I'm sure that will change when the hormones kick in. Aieieieee!

I'm glad school is over and things can lay back a little. Disappointing about the beach but there will be many days to come. I had to laugh about the Zoom meetings -- I've done much the same (and I have a camera!) But covering it up works fine or not turning on the video and amazing what one can accomplish!

he is growing so fast and you could document those freckles on every single post in the summer if you need to do it, I find them delightful.

That last photo is a heartbreaker!

I remember the endless hours of required work to keep my teaching license and to rise on the pay scale. Ugh. All paid for by yours truly as well. And no computer/online/Zoom classes then, either. IF ONLY!

Here's to a happy summer for you both. (And to those floppy, funny puppydogs, too.)

What a milestone of a birthday soon! The first weekend of the summer vacation started out mild which is how you want the whole summer, right! Great sweater!

You inspire me by how much you accomplish. We are doing a major decluttering and I got stalled out. Today, I'm taking the boxes that are ready to Goodwill. Still more to go.

The beach view is beautiful. I hope you get lots of good days there this summer.

Ten! Amazing. And he looks it, so grown up. I loved the beach story - it may not be illegal to go the beach on Friday, but it seems that the universe is against it all the same.
