This and That

As one of my New Year's resolutions was to post more pictures of Max....here you go. As you know Max is so wonderful. He gives hugs by pushing into your legs with his nose. It isn't anything personal he is really hugging. And Max loves, loves, loves to hold hands. He loves to sit next to you and hold your hand. He actually puts pressure into your hand. He is the cutest.

He loves getting his little paw pads rubbed, and all of his little fingers. He will almost fall asleep if you rub long enough. He reminds me of a three year old always wanting to hold their Mom's hand. He is so precious. I am trying to get him a bit more used to the camera. Taking pictures is not his strong point that is for sure.

Project number three is complete. I made this scarf on my loom, actually it is the first scarf I have made on my loom. I made it much too long. It can wrap around my neck several times and still have plenty of room to hang down. I made it out of Patons Rumor in the color Hibiscus Heather. Okay, can I tell you how much I love this yarn? It is amazingly soft. A primarily acrylic with alpaca blend. It is gorgeous to work with and the color is lovely. Now I have to ask why is it discontinued? It is no where to be found, I could only find a few skeins in the web, in colors I didn't like. Thank goodness I had this in my stash, I only wish I had a lot more.

Here it is on the loom right before I added the fringe. Do you see Dinah the doll in the background. She keeps me company when I am weaving on the loom. She is actually the kind of company I like lately because she doesn't say a word.
Now for some very random thoughts.
Why do your parents start making really bad decisions, while your teenagers are making bad decisions, all while you are in a very unsympathetic, menopausal, and hormonal state?
Is it possible to ground your parents if they are not thinking clearly just like you can ground your teenager?
Why do teenagers leave a 15 page paper to do all in one day, so you can not even venture near your computer, or they might shoot you for fear of losing all their information?
Why is parenting so difficult? I would give anything to shrink back my boys for just one day as I miss them being little.
Why is being a daughter so difficult sometimes?
Wow, I am being too heavy for the start of the week. Wishing you all a lovely and safe day.

Meredith.. love your scarf and your dog. My Cairn Terrier is asleep on my left thigh right next to me laptop computer right now. To put things into perspective for you... at least you have your mom.. mine died less than a year ago last March. And your kids?? Better that you have them there even though they are "teens"... my daughter is moving 4,000 miles away and taking my 2 granddaughters and informed me yesterday that she will be spending the holidays there with his parents forever more - and if they ever come to visit, it will be in the summer when the weather is nice. :::pulling knife out of heart::: ... WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.... :-(

Oh my, sounds like you are middle aged. That's when your parents start acting like teenagers and your teenagers think that they are adults and you are stuck in the middle trying to give everyone what they need. Have you tried meditation? Just 10 minutes in the morning (I used to lock myself in the bathroom) got me through a lot.
Altho', Teresa's comment (above) really puts things in perspective, too.

Oh gosh, between you and Teresa, I feel a lot better now.

Life is hard. It just is, and I don't think it becomes less challenging, but how we embrace our life can make things easier sometimes. I struggle now, too, with my parent's decisions, but on some level, I realize that they still are entitled to live their lives out as they see fit, as long as they are of sound mind, and while I will express opinions, and try to make them see that some of their choices do affect my life, I have to let go now and then, and let the chips fall where they may. Same thing with young people. Sometimes, people have to make mistakes in order to grow. You can't control everything, Meredith. You just can't. Give yourself permission, to drop a few things now and then. It might be messy. You may have to clean up a few pieces, but what's that old expression, about breaking a few eggs...?

I love your Max. My sister had a beautiful Golden, that used to greet me at my car, take my wrist in his mouth and walk with me to the front door. I loved that dog. His name was Romeo.
Take care sweetie, and be gentle with yourself.

Hi Meredith, I love your dog, Max. I have Jack, a yellow lab. I feel your situation, I have an 83 year old mom who I am dealing with and loving and respecting her life as an elderly woman, which we will all be someday! (even if it is hard ro believe) Take care, xo Robin

The scarf is great and your dog, of course, is awesome. My dog Josie hugs by pushing her head/nose up against you too. So much so that you can nearly be pushed over by her.

Hello! I just stumbled onto your blog while I was searing for Japanese flower info! And, I fell in love with Max, too! I have a golden also named Cody - he does the SAME thing as Max - he hugs with his head between your legs - some folks get a little unsure about it - but we always tell him it isn't what they think - he is just burying his head for a hug... and the paw - yes - the paw - Cody is always lifting his paw for me to hold!!! While I crochet, he will come flip my arm - that's when I know he has had enough of me not paying attention to me - he flips my right elbow and then puts his paw up to be held... so cute! Anyway - I love your blog - your crochet and posts! I have made a few of the Queen Anne lace scarves for gifts and am in love with this pattern the last few months - I want to make one for me hopefully before the cold weather! Just wanted to say hi and I enjoyed your blog and had to tell you I have a Max, too! :O) Have a great week! Bari Jo
