Friday Pet Peeves

Ah.... Friday, finally.  Usually I try to be as upbeat as possible, but this week has been filled with confrontation.  I don't know if I am more menopausal than usual, or if Mars is ascending, Saturn falling or whatever is going on astrologically.  According to a random poll I have taken with my friends their weeks have been a little crazy also...so to get it out of my system I am going to chat a little about my pet peeves of the day.

1. When blogger isn't working, on my day off, when I actually have time to catch up on the blogs I love.

2.  Waking up 20 minutes before my typical work day alarm goes off, on a day I do not have to wake up.  I love sleep, this is so unfair.

3.  I've said it before and unfortunately have to repeat it again, knitting or crocheting and finding that blasted knot in the middle of the ball, or several knots depending on the yarn.  Do you hear me South West Trading Company Amazing 100% Corn Fiber Yarn?  You are beautiful, but oh so frustrating.

4. Teenage boys in general, whether they are yours or are staying with you, let me just say this,
"You are lovely, but the Universe does not revolve around you!"

5.  Teenagers who just feel like arguing for no reason, or because they are tired, happy, unhappy, hungry, sore,...........you get the picture.

6.  James getting voted off American Idol, no I didn't vote, but still think he got robbed.

7.  Teenage boys who tell me they will do whatever I am asking in a few minutes, and two days later it isn't done.  Putting away laundry, anyone?

8.  The endless knitted dress, that seems to go on, and on, and on.  I knit, and knit, and measure and I swear I am coming up with little to no progress.  Can you actually knit and come up with a negative measurement?

9.  People who cut me off in traffic.  Can't we all take a second more to get to our destination, safely?

10.Teenagers.......enough said!

So how is your week?  By the way I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your wonderful comments about my crochet sweater, and me.  You gave me much to be thankful for in a week that is driving me a bit crazy.

Oh Meredith, I'm laughing at this...not because it's funny, but because I sooooo relate! Well, I don't have a teenage boy (or boys), but I have a 22 year old girl - and, apparently, Mars or Venus...they're very much the same! The good news is that they DO grow up and become much more tolerable, but not before our hair loses more of its color! And people in traffic...YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! What a bunch of inconsiderate, all about me, people we have on the road. It's not just the teenage boys! Anyone behind the wheel of a car is all about me! And James on Idol...oh heavens...he WAS robbed. But he was also set free to move on with his career and fly just as high as Daughtry has gone with his career! But it was still painful to hear his name called and not Scotty's! (Sorry to any Scotty fans reading this.) Blogger...ugh, so annoying! Waking up early...hate that internal body time clock! And the more I read of you, the more I feel a kindred spirit and I'm so glad to know you in the land of blog! x&o, Annette

Meredith, I'm sooo on the same page as you with the teenager thing right now. Especially, asking them to do something and two days later it's not done. Makes me nuts! My oldest is 21 and he is showing signs of improvement, so it DOES get better!

Meredith, I'm with you on so much of this! Just think of all the women all over the world that this would speak to :D and I too find the lovely comments on my blog help to smooth things over. By the way, I'm working on writing out a pattern for the flower square you asked for!

I love this post. I could pretty much "ditto" everything you just said. I teach high school. #4 is perfect.

I know all about teenage boys (have 2 of them right by my side now, plus a 8-year old one)... and it's sooooooooo complicated getting something done the 1st time you ask even when it's something really simple!
And whatever planet was spreading it's influence, it was nasty, I've had a heck of a week too :(
Glad it's over!

Hi Meredith, just wanted to let you know that I've posted the pattern for my Blue-eyed Daisy Square as you asked ( http://hook-and-yarn.blogspot.com/2011/05/blue-eyed-daisy-square.html ). Let me know if you decide to make it - I'd love to see!

Here's mine. A teenager who says I don't listen to her but then when I inquire about her life she says "don't worry about it" or when I ask what she is doing on this Friday night she says "whatever I want". What to do? Tempted lately to give up... But I know I can't. My mom keeps reminding me this will pass. Thanks for sharing your teenage frustration. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one.
