Look who Max and I saw on our walk this morning. This alligator is in the pond area right behind my house and down the street about 25 yards. He kept shutting his eyes when I took his picture. I believe Mr or Mrs Alligator is approximately 6 to 7 feet long. Way too big for this little pond. We have had a very dry Spring so the ponds here dry up so quickly. The rainy season doesn't start for several months, so I bet my new friend will move to deeper water very soon. The fun of living in Florida is that there are large reptiles living here right under your nose. Max and I kept a great distance and we were on higher ground, but just the same I will be watching for my new friend in my backyard.
Hope you are having a fun Tuesday.

My goodness, and I thought I had problems with garden pests! Maybe next doors cat isn't so bad after all ;-)
Wow Meredith, is he/she really a friend or foe!?
Stay safe!!!
xoRobin❤
I think I will never complain about bugs again!
Lord have mercy...I would have wet my pants!!!!!! Yikes. I couldn't live in Florida!!!! For that reason alone!!!!
: )
I hope he doesn't get any ideas about a BIG MAX burger....or latch onto you. I'd be scared he would be hiding in a bush and bite your leg off.....I saw a raccoon yesterday morning walking like a tight rope walker on our chain link fence. The fear is always rabies, and they are forever digging up flower pots and pooping on the deck, making messes and a royal pain in the butt, but we don't have alligators, thank goodness!
Be safe!!
Susanne :)
arrrrrgh...scarey
Wow! He's a big one! Hope he stays clear of your yard, BUT...
Aren't they fascinating to watch. We go to Boyd Hill every once in awhile JUST to look at the alligators.
We haven't had any in our pond in recent years. I think the last one was about four years ago. It was a small one.
I can't imagine that in my yard! I will through you on having that experience!
I get about as excited as you about an animal if I see .... a fox in my backyard. ;-) Aren't they dangerous, these aligators? I guess they have about 10 times as much teeth in their scary mouthes as foxes.
Oh my.. ::faint::.. we lived in Louisiana for 5 years and would go to Avery Island, where Tabasco sauce is made and they had a huge animal sanctuary there and we got close to some of those big guys. Hubby even fed bits of sandwich to some littler ones out of his hand! Hope he doesn't come in your yard.. or your pool!
((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Oh My Goodness!
I cannot imagine seeing something like that on a walk!!!
And thank you times a million for your kindness and lovely words to me, sooooo appreciated, you are a great friend!!
OMG i don't think i would ever want to venture out if i was going to bumb into one of those and i would have Max in my arms ;-) dee x
Yikes! He looks like he could have Ben as a snack!
We just get squirls here, lol!

Yiiiikkes!!! And you're just calmly photographing it, trying to get it to open its eyes...I would have run screaming. You Floridians are so cool!
Makes me think of a big alligator that lived near my in laws years ago. Be careful out there!~Patti
Oh my, sometimes I am glad I live in the boring old UK where the wildlife really isn't dangerous!
Holy cow! If I saw such a thing while out walking, I think I would just be a big, screaming blur streaking back up the street. You are a MUCH braver woman than me.
Oh Good Lord! I'd have run for the hills ASAP!
Not a fan of alligators, but hey, at least it wasn't a big ol' snake!!
Omg! I love how you casually announce that he kept shutting his eyes as you stopped to take his picture!!!Next thing you know he'll be in your pool!!Also, can't alligators run very fast!Take care, Meredith.x
ps forgot to say your new set of scarves are just so pretty!Good Luck with the shop sales.
Oh my! this is scary. In my parents' place we see plenty of snakes often. There are also a couple of incidents where they got into our house, but they weren't as scary as this.
And people think Australia is full of dangerous animals! Not like this! Wow!
oh my goodness! I would be scared!! but then we have bears in our woods?!
Wow! I think we're pretty lucky in Britain not to have anything really scary like that. Makes life exciting I suppose! xx
HOLY MOLY......THAT WOULD SCARE THE HECK OUT OF ME......I HEARD OF THE ALLIGATOR'S COMING INTO THE BACKYARDS
I HOPE HE GOES AWAY SOON.....TAKE CARE MY FRIEND....MAYBE HE WANTS ONE OF YOUR SHAWLS......RIZZI
Wow! I can't imagine seeing one of those while out walking knowing they were not inside a zoo!! : )
