A Treat

We are so busy all the time that I think it is sometimes hard to remember to give ourselves a treat, even if it is a small one.  My youngest goes to high school for four periods a day, he virtual schools three at home.  That means every day he needs to be picked up at 10:45 AM.  If I work in the morning I can just barely make it in time back to the school to get him on time.  If I work in the afternoon I have to pick him up, drop him off at home and get ready for my drive to work.  This week due to the Holiday and a family that canceled, I only had to work two days.  So I decided, with my very limited time yesterday I would drive to the water before school pick up.  I did not have time to really make it to the beach, so I decided to just go to the causeway and stick my toes in whatever sand there was.  It ended up being beautiful out.  The sun came out from behind the clouds, the water lapped gently at the shore, and I was pretty much alone with the beach and my thoughts.  Sit back, take a slow deep breath, and come take a look.  Give yourself a treat for a few moments.

I walked around for 30 minutes just looking, smelling the salty air and enjoying my time.  Hope you enjoyed yours, too.  Happy weekend.

How nice for you to take some time to enjoy the beauty around you! It was fun to see all the different things of interest you could find.. that photo of the feather in the sand was amazing. I truly believe that all you have to do is LOOK and you'll find beauty.
((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Hi Meredith. I am playing catch up after not having my computer for a week. Hey, don't we all need a beautiful place to escape to, with our worries, with our thoughts. It is so great that you also have a place nearby to steal away to. Sometimes it just does us a world of good.
Hugs,
Kris

There's something so soulful about the water. It has always called to me when I needed to be soothed. Sounds like a wonderful time for "you". And good for you...you deserve it!

There is no beach around here unless I drive the 40 minutes to Lake Erie. I know there is this calm that comes over us when we are around water, I could watch it all day. I often dream of living close to water in a cabin in the woods. I saw Oprah once interview Steve Tyler at his New England home. It was picture perfect, that was about as close to my dream home I have ever seen.

What a treat indeed! I have the beach very close to me but never go there because there are no litter laws here and everyone trashes the beach (and every bit of land in this country). It's very depressing so I just stay away so I don't have to see it all. But I may just have to change my thoughts on that ... as the weather begins to cool off a little, I will venture that way, and only see the beauty (rather than all the trash). :) Wishing you a wonderful day. Tammy

Such lovely pictures. So glad you got a chance to stop and enjoy the lovely water for a moment.

These pictures are really making me home sick....I could almost feel the warmth of the sand between my toes, hear the cry of the seagulls and smell of the salty air...hang on, I've gotta go get a tissue, sniff, sniff...I really miss Florida! :)

Blessings to you always my dear friend. And hugs to Max, too. :)

Perfect, Meredith! Thanks for the walk on the beach, my favorite place in all the world. I want to frame the picture of the feather in the sand! I am keeping the feather I found by our mailbox in my journal of cheer :)

Lucky you! I do miss the ocean. What a great spot for a quick unwind - I love the feather photo and the bright boats. Water is so very calming and cheering - both the sight and the sound of it.
