Some new and some old...........

Busy happenings at my house this week.  We got the exterior of our house painted.  It is the exact same color we painted it 18 years ago, I still like it.  Our roof is gray so I think this sort of beige/pinkish color warms it up and makes it more welcoming.  The last few weeks my oldest has been mulching, cutting back plants and such to get ready for the painting, my husband has been doing a lot of prep work, too.  I think it looks so nice and fresh.

The Longline Cardigan is still on the needles.  Time restraints have interrupted my progress.  Still there is no hurry.  It is 89 degrees out today, not sweater weather.  I am sure I will finish this in time for cooler weather in the late Autumn.  I am nearing the neckline on the back of the sweater, hopefully I can start the fronts soon.

I realize I would be much further along on my sweater if I hadn't started this new project, but to be honest I could not resist.  This is the Falling Blossoms Shawl.  When I saw it I just knew I had to make it.  I had this beautiful Malabrigo Silky Merino yarn in my stash so I started last weekend.  Sometimes I just need the ease of a hook in my hand, other times it is two needles working together that soothes my soul.  This way I can switch between the two and do what I want.

I now have a laptop!  I know I am really slow at all this tech stuff, I just never really felt the need for one before.  However, I find myself at my desk top so much on the weekends doing work when I could at least be near Little Buddy.  And I have been not using my time efficiently when I know I have a patient cancel, so now I can take this along and do some work instead of stopping to run an errand.  The files will update automatically on each device so that will be really helpful when working away from home. The beautiful lamp in the background was a Mother's Day gift from Mr. 22 and his girlfriend.  Isn't it beautiful?  You can find it at Cracker Barrel if you are interested.

I also have a new desk top.  Not the screen or keyboard just the desk top.  Mine has been dying a slow death for about six months.  There was no storage left and I could not turn it off or it might not turn back on for days.   My old one was ginormous and really, really old.  We have a wonderful man who comes to fix our computers.  I called him up a few weeks ago to get this new one and the laptop.  He brings just what I need so I don't have to figure it all out.  Then he comes in and gets it all set up.  He has to come back this next week to tweak a few things, like my lost photos that are on my phone that didn't transfer, and my email contact list, but he will be able to do that with no issues and I won't have to tear my hair out trying to figure it out.  I am extremely bad at tech stuff.

And just to make things even better I had a small chair rail put up behind my desk to prevent all those cords from yanking the paint off my walls.  Actually I was just going to paint the wall but could not find the leftover paint.   We made a trip to the hardware store yesterday, my husband stained it today and my son helped me install it this afternoon.  For $10 I have no more worries about cords damaging the wall, a simple solution to something that has bothered me for a long time.

We have been sprucing up the back pool area.  My husband is staining our cedar paneling, I have been moving plants and cleaning.  It is so nice to get things looking clean and updated.  We have given our left over pavers to friends who want to create a path to their backyard.  I have recently donated about 10 bags of items to those in need, it is great to get things moving out and moving on.

Of course these two have been very helpful.  They love to get in the way when you are trying to work.  I have to say I do stop what I am doing so they get all the petting an loving they need.  I mean who can resist this much fluff?

Okay my friends I have a pool date with a sweet seven year old.  When he came home after an adventure with his Dad, (a 27 floor elevator ride in a hotel in Tampa) I told him after lunch and a quick rest time we could go in the pool.  He replied, "You don't have a headache?"  No, I don't but I feel bad that that is what he thinks of before we can do something fun.  Ah well, hopefully when he is older he will remember the fun times and not the headache times.

Have a good week my friends.

You're going to love your new laptop. It took me a while to admit I needed one too but now it's all I have.

Hi, I have enjoyed catching up with you this afternoon. Where has the time gone with Buddy being 7 already. The time just goes to fast. I always enjoy seeing what you have on the needles. I just don't want to admit the kids are growing up so fast. Thank you for stopping by my blog. I am trying to do a little more posting than what I have. The last couple of years have been a trying experience for me from my broken leg, to losing my hubby and my younger sister in just a short period of time from each other, moving into a one bed room apartment after living in a three bedroom home. All an adjustment of life. Take care. Hugs and prayers from your Missouri Friend Shirley.

Dear Meredith,I loved the lamp. How pretty and such a lovely gift. Doesn't it make you feel good when things have been newly painted, cleaned up or given away? My husband has just pulled out the pot plants on the front of the house and has sprayed the drive to stop moss and lichen forming as it can be very slippery. Once we have cleaned up the pot plants they will look lovely again when replaced in their spots. Then I will start on the plants on the front patio. Clean ups always make me feel so good when they are finished. Have a good week. Regards, Robyn

I just love the color of your house (and the house itself). Pink is just so Florida! And all those beautiful plantings! Your house looks so lovely and welcoming.

I think it's sweet that LB cares about how you are feeling. And I'm sure he'll remember all the good times.

Wait, your son does yard work??? It has to have been at least a decade since Seth did anything in the yard. When I was a single mom, he did mow the lawn, but that was a long time ago!

The house looks fabulous, such a lovely colour. I resisted getting a laptop for years but I ended up getting rid of the desktop once I found out how convenient a laptop is. Have fun in the pool.

Good Morning Meredith. So much fun newsl. Your house and landscaping is beautiful. Good for Mr. 22 for helping out so much. I wish I had a computer guy that would set everything up and teach me to use it. I am awful with technology. Dennis gave me a MacBook Air for my birthday and the ONLY thing I use it for is commenting on blogs. Seriously. I use my iPad for everything else. The MacBook has me intimidated.
What a fun outing for your little, (or not so little anymore), guy. Elevators! Who can figure out what fascinates little boys? I'm also glad that there was no headache to get in the way of your fun. He will remember the good times, our kids do.
And finally, I know what you mean about knit and crochet. I usually have at least one of each kind of craft on the hook, (needles). I never know which I will want to do!
Have a wonderful week my sweet friend.
Blessings,
Betsy

it's absolutely beautiful! it's so nice to be able to picture your home and garden. and the knitting or crocheting. my goodness you do excellent work!
and the fact that your little seven year old thinks enough of you to ask if you have a head ache first! he realizes how hard you work. I think that's an amazing attribute at seven! we're awaiting a major tornado outbreak here. I'm just hoping it comes before sundown. it's scarier when it's dark and they're wrapped in rain! xoxo

Hi Mere, your house is gorgeous.. there is nothing like a fresh coat of paint on your home. I like both of your on-going projects. I'm loving my shell blanket. I hope you learn to love your laptop. I haven't had a desktop in literally 20 years. Your fur boys are really magnificent guys. What loves. Thanks for being there for Dayle and I.. we love you. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

WOW, everything looks beautiful, and the knitting-lovely.
I have a smile on my face thinking you and your son will be swimming in the afternoon, we had snow here today after 80+ degrees here last week. Crazy!

Having the house painted is a huge job. You must be so happy to have it done. Oh, I wish I had a good "tech guy" for my house and for work! My son was my tech guy, but he's hard to pin down these days.

What a beautiful home you have, you really do. Love your desk area, I am very envious! I hope you had a good swim. It's still sweater weather here much of the time, but nice and sunny anyway. CJ xx

How nice your computer guys does just what you need, that way you're not spending extra money. Congrats on your laptop. I've never had one. I love my desk top, the bigger screen etc, but you've got a good point about using your time well. I do use my ipad like a laptop when we travel, but it's very hard to do cut and paste with it, so blogging is very difficult. Your house looks warm and inviting. We're behind on landscaping big time. In part because we've had so much rain we can get out there enough to do what needs doing. AND with my broken foot last year, naturally I didn't get yard work done then, so...it's really in need this year.

Lots of spring cleaning going on over there. Congrats on the new laptop. Our poor computer just sits in the kids room. I don't even remember what ink the printer takes or if I could even buy more if I wanted to ever use it again. I kinda miss the days of printing things, especially pictures. I'm not tech savvy either. Never backup or sync anything which is why my phone memory is constantly full and I have to start deleting photos to make space. Ugh! It all used to be so simple. :) Thank goodness for crochet that can be as easy or hard as you want it to be. Love the shawl you are making. And, of course, I always say that your furboys make me smile. They are just so darn adorable. Hope you had a good swim and haven't had any headaches lately. Take care!
