Not the best week or 4th of July.................

Before I dive into the week, Happy 4th of July for those celebrating.  This is a flag Little Buddy made at his camp this week.  I love the glitter paint stars.

This has not been the best week, actually, it has stunk.  I was sick the whole week long and now my Little Buddy has it, too.  Not Covid, just a darn cold that really knocked me out.  I was at a home where the foster mother was ill, and so was one of her children but I was not informed of this until a few hours after I had already been there.  It took me a while to get it, over 10 days but when I did, I really did.  I spent much of Monday and Tuesday sanitizing my house and then heading to my bed where I watched the entire season two of Offspring on Netflix.  This was recommended to me by a friend and I love it.  It is like the show Parenthood, but Australian, and much funnier.  Can I just say that you Australians are super cool?  I was too tired to knit or crochet, so I basically draped myself on my pillows and tried not to move my aching head while I constantly blew my nose.  I did get an antibody test yesterday which was negative much to my dismay.  If you are going to be that sick that you miss a week of work it better be for a good reason.  Not that I want the virus, or to spread it to my family, its just that if I had had it then I could maybe stop worrying so much.  For now on even in the homes it is difficult for me to wear a mask in I will be wearing a mask.  I have many small kids who just pull it off, so for those kids I will work with them in a separate room with no one else allowed in if I can't have a mask on.  If you are following the rising cases, Florida is beating the whole country.  There were 9, 500 new cases yesterday, something we should not be proud of.

Little Buddy came home from camp on Wednesday a bit sad and quiet.  I knew he was getting something at that time.  He woke up Thursday with this red nose where he had been wiping it and that nose has only gotten worse since then.  I keep putting cream on it, which he wipes off, and the cycle repeats itself over and over.  We have watched Wreck it Ralph so many times I have lost count.  But it keeps his runny and stuffy nose happy and that is all that matters.

That bra thingy I showed you a few weeks ago has turned into a finished project as of today.  This is the Palmer's Vest by Kendall Timko.  Made with Berroco Remix Light in the color eggplant.  I used almost three skeins of yarn for this vest so approximately 1,250 yards and a size G hook. It is supposed to be really big so if you are worried I made a ginormous vest by mistake don't be.  I can see myself in the winter wearing this with a long sleeve white t-shirt, jeans and boots but I simply don't know if I am that cool!

Yesterday was my birthday, not something I make a big deal out of, but it was nice to be home with a little boy, even if he was not feeling well.  I got to take that antibody test, yes I really know how to celebrate, and I got lots of lovely messages from family and friends.  My oldest told me I really look good for 56, that is a present unto itself!  I also got to watch Hamilton with his girlfriend, who will now be known as Ms. B.  We were up late watching it and it was worth every sleepless minute.  She had seen it live but not with the original cast.  It is a brilliant musical, brilliant lyrics, brilliant acting and singing, well the whole thing was magnificent.  I just loved watching it with her because she is just so, so lovely.  If you have Disney Plus I hope you will watch it, it is well worth it.

Since I don't have red, white and blue flowers how about orange, white and purple?  Stay safe my friends.

Oh Meredith, I'm so sorry it's been a rough week. I'm glad you're feeling better and relieved it wasn't Covid, though I understand your thought about if you had to be sick it would have be nice to get it done and over with so you can stop worrying about a future exposure. I'll be thinking about you as you work with your families. Stay safe!

I love your vest. What a lovely job. I think you'll look amazing in it! You'll have to share some pictures when you wear it.

Happy Belated Birthday! I'm glad you had family time and loved Hamilton. We're looking forward to watching it sometime this week too. And next year, if theatre tours are back on, we have tickets for the touring show in the Summer of 2021. Fingers crossed our world is healthy then and we can enjoy shows in person again.

I hope little buddy feels well soon too. Take care and sending you a big hug for a better week ahead!

X Chy

You ARE that cool! And a belated happy birthday for yesterday, which is now the day before yesterday. Sorry you've been so unwell, it must be so hard staying germ free when you're in contact with so many people. And I'm sorry Little B has it now, I hope he is all better very soon. Sending hugs, CJ xx

I am so sorry to hear about your illness. I was just wondering what was going to happen when kids start getting back together again after being isolated for so long. My Grands are starting camp tomorrow and I know my DIL is going to freak if they get the sniffles which you know they will. When my poor sister had Covid she said the worst part was the cleaning. As sick as she was she couldn't get it out of her head that her house was infected. A month later she is still convinced it is in her house lurking. The doctors told them both to be very careful not to get it or anything else again in the near future since their immune systems are shot. Good times.
On a happier note, your vest is glorious. Very chic.
I also loved Hamilton. We watched it last night. I've had the soundtrack for ages but to see it in person and know what was going on was AMAZING.
Happy belated birthday!

LB is giving Jasper Johns a run for his money with that flag! So sorry you both caught summer colds. If you had tested positive for antibodies, would you have had to quarantine for two weeks? And yes, you ARE cool enough to rock that vest!

I'm glad you are on the mend, and I hope by now Little Buddy is feeling better as well.

That vest is so pretty - I especially like the color - looks like it was trying to match some of your flowers. :-)

Take care.

Being ill with a cold is no fun. I'm thankful you didn't have the covid19. I know 3 people younger than me who had it and are still alive. Buddies flag painting is nice! I enjoyed seeing your beautiful flowers. I appreciate your comment on my post. I'm feeling a bit better each day. Most likely tripped on rug. But I'm thankful it wasn't worse. Take care! ×------×

HaPpY BiRthDaY!! I hope you're feeling better by now. There's something that seems so unfair about being sick in the summertime. I don't know why that is, but it feels like a sucker punch.

Ah a stinking cold can knock people in different ways. It must be a worrying time for you folks. We all look on dismayed at the US here in the UK. People have been very careful here but it doesn't stop those who go out to work from worrying. Stay safe my friend - who definitely doesn't look 56! Jo xxx

I'm so sorry that you and LB have been so sick. That really stinks.

Yes, you are definitely cool enough to wear that vest with jeans and boots. You are tall and thin - you'd look great!

We don't have DisneyPlus, so no Hamilton watching for us.

Hope you feel better soon and yes, please wear a mask in the houses you are able to! Stay safe!

xoxo

Lil Buddy and you getting sick means a rough week to 10 days for sure! I'm so sorry. You are too cool for school Mere. Of course you can pull that gorgeous top with blue jeans into a fabulous look.
I love LIl B's flag. He is an artisti!
Happy Birthday. I'm sorry I missed it. Imi sorry you were sick for it.
We are steamy hot and humid here, but cool in the shade. Rode my bike and tried to be as enthusiastic as Lil B on the trails.

I understand how you feel -- a missed week of work should give you immunity to Covid-19.
That vest is adorable -- and I am sure you will look very chic in it next winter. 56 is the new 36, you know.
I know I'm planning to wear a mask at all times at school in the fall -- which is going to be very uncomfortable. Still.
I can't wait for my daughter to get out of Miami -- too much Covid! She flies out Aug. 1, and I will worry every minute until then.

You are plenty cool for your vest/t-shirt/jeans and boots combo! Love the colour of your oversized vest. There is something comforting about extra large knitwear I find. I am sorry you were so unwell Meredith, I hope you recover quickly. The summer cold can really knock you off kilter. Look after yourself my friend xx

Happy birthday!!! I'm sorry you were negative to the antibody test, I think like you do. I'm sorry that the cases are climbing so quickly and you have to work sometimes without a mask. What a bummer and a big big stressor. I am battling allergies and am thankful to not be babysitting the little girl who shares all viruses!!

Summer colds are by far the worst ones. I'm glad you were able to rest.

That flag will be a great decoration for all patriotic holidays for years to come.

Happy Birthday! I am so glad to hear to that you don't have the virus. I love your vest and have no doubt you will be "cool" enough to wear it with jeans and boots.

Dear Meredith

I have been away far too long. Life does get in the way and with all that has been happening before, during and now lockdown has ended here in Spain...I just haven't felt like doing much. Sorry to hear you have been ill. I know what you mean about being disappointed by a negative test. I had a negative antibody test recently and was amazed. Before lockdown I was regularly travelling on public transport and going to gym classes three times a week. I can't understand how I didn't become infected.
