Blanket finish and a productive weekend..........

This is a photo of my family on Thanksgiving.  My husband's friend joined us but that is it.  No extended family or friends.  We ate outside, we tried to keep a bit of distance, but these are the people I am with all the time so we felt pretty safe gathering for the holiday. We had a lovely evening together.  I really do cherish my family.  I hope all of you who celebrated had a wonderful day.  I decided to deep clean on Thanksgiving while my husband cooked.  It was much needed and something I usually do on the last day of the year. But this year I wanted less to do on the last day of the year when I put away all the decorations. I was thinking doing this would help me start the new year off fresh and not so tired. So brainiac that I am I decided to do it on Thanksgiving, not so smart because then I was tired from climbing up and down ladders and cleaning like a crazy woman.  Still it is done and I am very thankful for that.   Friday was spent decorating for Christmas and cleaning up after that mess.  Saturday I did get a bit of rest in after I gave Little Buddy a haircut and I had a Christmas gift finish, more about that in a bit.  Today was paperwork and an appointment to see Santa with one special boy.  He was very nervous to go to the mall to see Santa but I assured him we could do it safely.  He even got to go on some elevator rides which just made him so happy.  His elevator riding has been curtailed due to the pandemic.  I sanitized all the buttons so he could push them with no worry.  We went on several rides before seeing Santa. Our visit went well.  Santa wore a face shield and Little Boy had on a mask until he turned around for the photo, then he could lower it safely.  Santa was wonderful, just as he should be, very kind and lovely.

Christmas present blanket number two is done.  This will be for Mr. 23 and Ms. L.  It is based on the Edelweiss Blanket which I believe was more of a baby blanket.  I love the granny square design and just adapted the second round so it wasn't a puff stitch, rather a double crochet 3 together cluster and added a final round of granny stitches so I could join as I went along.  I used a size J hook and 2,550 yards of we are knitter's cotton in the color pearl, which is a cross between grey and a light beige.  After a few rounds of granny stiches for the border the final blanket measures 52 x 72 inches.  A nice size for a throw.  I am not sure I trust Ms. Luna around it, this blanket might have to be put away until she gets a little older and is not so in love with my yarn.

These boys just make me laugh.  Hank is rarely on his back showing his belly so I had to grab my phone for a photo.  Bear looks like he is laughing here in this photo.  It is hard to take a picture when you are constantly getting your hand knocked by a paw wanting some attention.

Hope you have a wonderful week my friends.  I am about to finish some paperwork so I can relax and make a few Christmas presents.  More on that later.  Have a wonderful and safe week.

I'm glad you and yours family had a lovely Thanksgiving together. The photo of Hank made me laugh, they are both so adorable. Bertie likes to get up on a chair next to me when I am typing and lick the table and nudge my arm. We are working on doing that less... I'm glad your little man got to see Father Christmas and ride in some lifts. A good day indeed. Hope you have a lovely week and that it's not too busy for you. Love the new blanket, very beautifully done. CJ xx

Stay safe Meredith. I am holding out for decorating for Christmas because Meg just gets too excited by it all and says 'she can't wait' over and over again - and she is 11! So we will keep a bit more normal here for a while. Your blanket (and of course your dogs)are fabulous. Jo xx

The blanket is beautiful! What a lovely gift. I just gifted my sister a pair of socks after many years. Her recently departed dog would eat any socks I gave her so I gave up. We had a laugh and a few tears about it and then she said she went online rescue puppy shopping.
Your boys always make me smile. I don't think I've ever seen such happy pups.

I so admire your energy, Mere. My back is a mess again so I'm up and down from being flat on my back most of the day. So seeing you (or anyone) being productive and ticking the boxes make me anxious to get whatever treatment I have to have.

We forget how interesting things like elevators were when we were kids! I'm glad Little Buddy was able to take his "rides"! And seeing Santa is the icing on the cake!

Your blanket is gorgeous. I'd love it as a tablecloth or dresser scarf! It's so intricate~good job!

We had a teeny little backyard family get together on Thanksgiving morning...in forty degree weather, bundled up and wearing masks. The mimosas kept us warm and happy, the grandkids and dogs ran around like maniacs. Definitely a first in odd holiday celebrations! A few of my kids have either caught or been exposed to the virus so no one comes into our home. In spite of all of our precautions, my husband and I both have head and chest colds. How can that be possible? But we are plugging along.

You really do have a lovely family and it looks like a good time was had by all!

Sending Holiday Hugs, Mere!🎄

Hi Meredith, It was wonderful to see the photo of your beautiful family but I sure wish you had been able to be in the picture too.
The photo of Hank made me laugh out loud and Bear looks like he's laughing at him too! What sweet boys they are. Mischievious, but still very, very sweet. :-)
That blanket is so wonderful and I know it will be loved. I can see all of the hard work you put into it. Miss Luna better mind her manners.
I can imagine LB's excitement to be riding on an elevator again after all this time. I worry about how we will handle the "real" world again when all of this is over. Will we all be afraid to interact? I sure hope not.
Have a lovely day my dear friend. Take care.
Blessings,
Betsy

Happy Thanksgiving
The blanket is beautiful.
My neighbour took her daughter to see Santa. They had the kids sit on a bench in front of Santa and there was plexiglass between the two. You can't even see it in the pictures - its very clever!

That photo of Hank literally made me laugh out loud. Your two dogs are so jolly and fun. I know they are also a handful, but they are a source of joy, too.

I can imagine the sense of calm and satisfaction you had once your deep-clean was finished. It does take a lot out of you, but what a relief to have it behind you now, and before the New Year.

Well done!

You've been busy! I could use a little bit of your energy, my house is a tip. I am so glad you had a lovely Thanksgiving. I was riding an elevator today when going for my vaccine appointment and the buttons in the elevator made me think of your Little Buddy. I got out of the elevator with a big grin on my face. When I was much younger, there was a shop with a paternoster elevator and we would dare each other to go all the way round. Little Buddy would love that! Although of course there are no buttons to press, just the excitement of jumping into a moving elevator, and the option to go round and round. Have a wonderful week x

Hi Meridith,
I have enjoyed your blog for quite awhile now. Not sure if I've commented before but just love little Buddy and your 2 dogs, plus of course like reading about the rest of your family too! I don't know if I would of cleaned on Thanksgiving but I'm sure your glad it is done. I'm cleaning today and tomorrow and probably the next day but, hey, it will be done and then can decorate, relax, plan for Christmas. Very small Thsnksgiving and small Christmas gatherings but We all have to do our part.
Happy holidays to you and all your family.

It's nice that you were able to gather with family and at least one friend. :) Crazy times when you have to sanitize and mask up for a visit with Santa. Lord I hope 2021 will give us better days. The blanket is absolutely gorgeous. Those furboys sure are charmers. Take care.

Your blanket is beautiful! It's nice to get a little bit caught up and fun to see LB. Our Thanksgiving was just the two of us, and we shared a Cornish hen. We also delivered pie to our kids and a few n'bors. (wearing masks, of course) No way could we eat 2 whole pies, but it wouldn't seem like Thanksgiving without pie, right?

HAHAHA! Your furry boys made me laugh out loud too!

That is a lovely lovely photo of your family. I am glad you are all staying safe and being sensible. I jut heard an alarming statistic on the news down under - In the USA, one person dies from Covid-19 every 30 seconds! Thanksgiving isn't a holiday down here but I give thanks that you are all safe and well.

Your blanket is beautiful. I love that lacy look - so decorative but still so useful. I love how you are not afraid to modify patterns to suit your own needs. The new owners are certain to fall in love with it - such a classic style.

Wishing you all happiness and love this holiday season. xx

I'm so sad when I hear children are worried about the pandemic. These are childhood memories they shouldn't really have. But everyone looks very happy at your outdoor meal. Good memories.

You have a BEAUTIFUL family.

Your pups made me laugh too. Aren't we lucky to have pets to add a little levity to the day. We sure need it.

Wishing you a very happy holiday season. I'm so glad Little Buddy got to see the Big Man and ride some elevators.
